Is It Allowed To Change Original Adsense Code?

Well, I want to change the code that Adsense gives me to match my site. For example, I have a gradient background, so obviously setting a definite background color for the adsense will make my site seem odd. So, what will happen if I delete the line of code that sets the background altogether?

Take www.digg.com as an example. The ads on the top are on top of a gradient. Also, the text sizes are all larger, and the font looks different. Also, there are always 3 text ads on it. How can I customize mine like that? Of course, not to break Google's TOS and not to get banned.

    Thanks.

I don't think you can change the font but why don't you change the background to the colour of your site?

BTW Digg has been given special ads by Google because it's such a big site and earns a lot of money I would think :D

I would do it if my background wasn't a gradient. That's the problem. Setting definite backgrounds with adsense doesn't look right the gradients.

As James12513 said, you can always change YOUR background. That is the only option you have really. Changing the code the way you describe is not allowed :(

Nah, I can't change the background of my site. I have it right now the way I like it. If I just take out the "background color" code from the adsense, will Google really get on my case?

Maybe someone with some experience in this area can help me out here?

1st I don't think that taking out the background color would work. Second try it and if it does then cool, email google explaining the situation.I really don't think they would care. But as I said I don't think it would work just by removing that code.

You can set up a dummy page with how you think it will work and if you really want to...ask google if that's permissible, but stress that it's not a live page and you wouldn't make it live unless you get their permission. YMMV and I take no responsibility if they are unhappy :) They may not be, but they may be, you never know.

Unfortunately any changing of the original ad code (besides the obvious) is not allowed, you can especially not delete lines of code.

I would make up a test page, no PUB ID, and email google for 100% clarification.

As far as colours and backgrounds are concerned,
we can't do anything to break Google TOS since it will automatically adjust any color settings that are not "right" to them.

And you can't change fonts no matter how hard you try, unless I am missing something.
Just make sure you are following the guidelines to not break the rule and get banned.

first thing you had to do before putting adsense ads on your site was reading TOS, TOS say you can't change adsense code

No way this would fly. Google DOES care and they won't care at all that the Adsense ads don't match your background.

You make your website work with your Adsense code UNALTERED from the second it was generated, NOT the other way around.

And I agree with pozer. Adsense TOS CLEARLY says do not alter your Adsense code.

Delete the line of code that sets the background and you will get a white backgorund or the ad will not show.

Thanks a lot for the advice, guys :) That's why I post here: to avoid doing the unforgivable. I won't do anything to the code.

    Thanks.

    You should ask Google.

Personally I change colors, and I have had no problem.

Don't even think of playing with google codes it will get you banned.. Digg.com is very big site and as fellow member said, they are given a special code and has special agreement with google.
