Well yesterdays posts made me pull my finger out and actually look at what google is seeing in my site, while I was at work (well pretending to work) I noticed that certain main keywords I am aiming at hitting and have wrote articles all about haven't been indexed by the big G. I'm not sure if this is the CMS script I am using and where they are placed in the article and dictionairy sections, but they're just not showing up. Ok I know it can take a while but google has been really fast with all the other sections and google bot keeps hitting my site (Googlebot 1104+17). So I've had a play about and made them exactly like the other articles that have been indexed. If I manage to get these in google this week hopefully hits will go up to an extra 50 or more a day. See I'm getting there picking up on what needs to be changed etc lol. Keep the advice coming its getting my arse in gear which is always a good thing
Oh and no 5 sites at once would kill me, getting this one ranked high for all the things I want it to be is a priority so next time its easier. Although I do have a few more sites that just make a few pennies here and there they aren't really anything that I would want to spend so much time on or have the passion to write about, as people said at the start of the thread do it about something you enjoy then the profit comes later which seems like a better way for me to go about this site and future ones.
Bingo! I have been doing this for two years and only recently have I learnt to actually stick to things that I know and enjoy writing about. I wrote 12 quality articles over the space of a week that are now earning me another $15/day and I wouldn't have considered a single one of them "arduous" to write - it was more just like writing my articles to share my knowledge. I know I couldn't really do this with so many other topics nor would I have the motivation to do it, nor would I be able to consider the articles quality articles because they'd be about topics I was only vague about and visitors would no doubt recognize the inferiority. So method I like the best (and keeps you happy to work on your sites) is writing an article about a single topic that you know is fairly popular in the search engines, it's like you see a topic that is popular and then it sort of click in your mind "hey I know lots about that stuff and I can write and article about it" but then making sure you aren't writing it for the search engines - and then going over it once you have finished and then tweaking the keyword structure a bit and then publishing it and seeing how it ranks and then tweaking it a bit once you see what it is ranking for. It's sort of like two sections of fun, one is writing the article and then a couple of days later tweaking it to see how well you can get it to perform. Now I know there are a lot of people out there that will disagree with me, but I personally also like to stick to a few topics, I personally have around 4 - 5 sites, but I'm slowly moving away from the sites that I'm not what I would consider "very knowledgeable" in those areas so that I can focus on what i know I have good knowledge in and can provide visitors good value for. Then I build little offshoots of that main topic that my other sites can support and easily get up and running. I mean for you you have started out with Koi Fish, and I mean if what you know is fish then there is more than enough to write about and eventually your sites will build a reputation of being quite knowledge and in depth on the topic of specific fish and to me that has a lot more potential than you starting to move into dogs, or cats, or life insurance just because the is more money there... Anyway keep your spirits up things will come around.
Haha, yeah I just realised you misquoted me. So yeah, you agree with me then We just can't roll with the big boys
Yeah, it cracks me up how people get such big heads around this place. If someone had told me I should have over 500 uniques a day back when I started, I would have given up long ago Nowadays I've got a site that does a few thousand a day, but I've also got plenty of others that aren't nearly as stellar, including one that's two years old and has a PR of 6 and lucky to get 200.
I know what you mean mate. I didn't see the light so to speak until about a year of being online. I just try and be realistic when trying to give advice as I know how disheartening it can be when you just start getting an interest in SEO and the rest of it.
I don't know if my contribution will help, but every month for the last four months my monthly income has either doubled, or more than doubled. Now, I was starting from scratch, but my point is that if you are on $5/day this month, you could easily be on $20/day in two month's time, even if you are as clueless as me! There is definitely some sort of exponential growth thing going on with websites.
Now I understand why people advise us to build a site about something you're passionate about. Otherwise it becomes work. It's easy to think that a full-time job is better than Adsense, but when your boss gives you the boot, you'll be more than grateful for whatever Adsense gives to you. I was once at $5 a day too. Just worked at it and slowly but surely, you see an uptrend.
It's very easy to obtain exponential growth in the beginning, but as you go along your growth is hindered by maintenance, so there maybe short term exponential growth but I wouldn't be banking on achieving exponential growth when you start hitting the $XXX/day and $XXXX/day range.
There is exponential growth in that if you create related sites in a network, you have more chances of a click through and revenue as your visitors are interested in the offer. In saying that though, you can go exponentially down as well if your main site gets hit in the SERPs etc.
With the growing demand/interest in the internet, creating a webpage is definitely worth it. Not only does it provide nearly endless information, it is easy to access and usually free. At the same time, you are helping others out, and even making some money.
My site is over a month old, I don't get 500 visits a day, I'm not making much at all. But I am learning from it, and getting new ideas all the time. It was NOT created for Adsense. I actually put it online at a Geocities site just to share, and then someone on a forum told me about Adsense. For me it's worth it, cuz before Geocities was making all the money, now I get a cut. I couldn't take a second job, it's just not an option. Guess I'll have to study SEO more.
How about considering some PPC campaigns to bring in targeted traffic to the website ... of course, you'll need to calculate the ROI (return on investment) of the income minus the ad cost.
Yes, this is the whole point about building websites for Adsense or any sense. Most people have a short-term view of things. I'm sure everyone on the forum believes in the Internet's future, so why is everyone looking to hit it bit in. like, a few weeks or a few months.I reckon you have to think long term as in several years. So, ask yourself where will you and your niche be in five years. meanwhile keep working and don't give up your day job until the income stream hits the big time.
i think instead of working with one site we should start 1 to 50 sites to make good revenue suppose if there are 100 persons search for a particular keyword and total listings for the keyword is about 300,000-500,000 then there is every chance you can start a website on that particualr topic and you can earn a lot
