Link trading has become big business, and as generating backlinks is a tedious and time consuming task, you might be tempted to BUY backlinks. I just wondered if Google appreciates links that are purchased, or of your site might get penalized? Appreciate your opinion about this.
Technically, paid links are against Google's TOS but many people do it successfully. The key to buying links, is purchase those which are directly related to your niche, and build them gradually. Also be sure to use other methods, including social bookmarking, articles, link wheels, profile links, etc. Good luck!
This. Depending on your niche, it's sometimes an absolute necessity IMO - at least for the short to medium term.
They have algorithms which to a certain extent determine this. If your blog is about dogs, and you have a link from a site about computers, their algorithm will raise a flag since it is unnatural.
Google don't like you "buying backlinks", they've made that very clear, although thousands of people do it, large companies even do it. It all depends on what kind of links your buying really and who your paying, if your paying the right people to do the job, then you'll get the results you expect..

Well you need backlinks AND good content for good google ranking (AND excellent SEO). I personally invest a couple of days in good link building for a new site, when I see the links get indexed I sometimes buy links, but always somewhere where they build links in a normal pace. But I always invest a lot of time in good keyword rich content or product descriptions!
As long as your website is quality site, and purchase backlink from only quality site (not from those link farm), then google cant really find them out.
Paid links are against Google TOS. But if no one can prove that you have purchased links, it will not make any harm. But there are so many free ways to build links. So I don’t think its economical to buy links.
If you are ready to invest in link building, then you can surely buy quality links. Or else, you can choose some free ways. But it may take more time.
Recently google dropped the rank of a website " milanoo" for buying paid links. So i would suggest not to buy paid backlinks.
There is a chance of getting penalized, Buying backlinks is considered as blackhat technique and it might put your sites rank and reputation both at risk, so watch out.
