Before I bought my url, I used a blogspot address, same as the one I have now with '.blogspot'. Now, I would like to redirect the blogspot to my page. Now does anyone know ifthis against ToS for either Adsense or Blogger? I am more concerned about the Adsense ToS, not Bloggers, but I do not want either one bitingme in the a#@ and f-ing up adsense cashflow.
In my opinion you can just redirect the site. Actually you can make a redirect from any page to your site if you wish. There is no problem with AdSense. I'm doing the same since a long time and there never was a problem with this. By the way: It's good that you got a domain for your blog. If you really want to make a successful blog it would be a bummer if you would build all the links to a blogspot domain. With your own domain you gain more.
All myadvertising and such is going to my own domain. I just thought is was silly to delet the blog, not thaat there was much going on there. But in the event anyone shows up, I figured what the hell. So glad I was able to get the domain I wanted. I was just wondering since they are both owned by G. More concerned about my adsense acct. =)
Maybe you could just make one final post at blogger telling all visitors that you've moved to a new domain, with a link. Make a big deal out of it (big fonts, colors, etc.) so everyone sees it.
That is what I am planning to do. I figure it is quick and easy, people will find the new one and it's a free first link!
That's a good idea. When I moved my blogspot blog to my own domain, I wasn't able to delete to delete the old blog, because it was all inside the same account. My old blog still languishes here: domain-name-blog.blogspot.com And when I changed my publishing mode from blogspot.com to FTP @ my own domain, the old one remained active yet disconnected from my account and floating in limbo, yet I post to the new address just fine here: DomainBlog.net AmCy
I had reasoned that since Google owns blogspot then it surely would index it often. Well 90% of my traffic comes from MSN search! Guess I am in the sandbox, it is only 4 months old. But what is the advantage of a private URL? I already have lots of websites, the idea of the blog was to get Google's attention and link to my private sites from the blog.
The biggest advantage is full control over your blog. On blogspot, if google gets angry they can remove your blog, and you will have lost everything. On your own domain, with MT or WP or the likes, you can backup everything and control it all yourself.
Do they get angry often? Clicking random blogs on there home page I find most are re-directs to private URL's. Not as much spam as I had heard there was.
No, they don't get angry often. It's just always a possibility. I started off on blogspot, but moved after a month or 2 so I could have full control. I'd hate to lose a lot of hard work that way.
I try to keep a back-up on my hard drive. Thanks for the reminder - I should be double sure I have those backups.
