I am looking for a new and I have started this search method:
I am going to a catalog of a product with several models. Then for each model I check the Demand using Overture then I check the competition using Google until I find a niche: a model that people search for but with less competion !

Is it good method since I prefer systematic research ?

I'd also lookup the pricing in AdWords for the keywords defining the nieche.

You might try www.aojon.com and browse through his "Nicheof the week" picks.

Web directories are a good adsense money maker, I've heard. I don't own one so I don't really know.

Try looking offline to find the best niches. Newspaper headlines and women's magazines are a good place to start.

Then go out one day and just hang around watching people without your laptop. Take just a notepad so you can write down your ideas & work on them at home. Malls, coffee shops, airports, and parks are great places to watch people and see what kind of things they like to do.

I would write topics on things you like. Having your own site/blog with something that interests you will keep you interested. You will not be bored looking at similar sites as yours, which will thus enable you to diversify.
