Is it a good idea to use the product's name as a hashtag?

I am deeply into marketing my product on Twitter and now I came up with something new.
I will be organizing an online Twitter "event". It will be a big conversation with lots of (planned) participants and a unique hashtag that will be used by everyone who wants to be part of the talk. (The conversation will be a debate or something similar)
Now, the goal of this is to get my product's name out there. So I thought I would use it's name as the hashtag for the conversation.

Maybe this sounds a bit wild, but I think it is worth a try.

So do you think this could work out? If no, why? If yes, why?

And also could you give some tips on organizing this "event"?

    Thanks:)

I generally use comment SEO friendly phrase as first tag, then place other tags, may include product name

yes, I think this will work plus it gets you brand recognition. Very good idea, actually. How to organize it? I would contact some other people in your same industry who could also benefit from such a situation and see if they would be willing to participate SO NOT GIVE THEM THE hashtag ahead of time. Ask them to send out a series of emails to their lists as part of being a part of it and telling people what day and that the hashtag will be provided early that morning.Have the email all ready and get it to them the day before and have everyone send out the email at midnight and then again at 10am that morning and you start the hashtag going early that morning at midnight and keep it going.
