Hello! is it a good idea to use a translation plugin for WordPress? Will this create more unique pages on our blog and improve our ranking? If it's a good idea to use tranlsations into several foreign languages, can anyone recommend a good WordPress translation plugin ? Thank you for your help, Robert
yes it is a good idea to use a translation plugin. I use one an all my blogs and it does increase your indexed pages and your traffic. The big advantage is you can get indexed on Baidu.com the biggest chinese search engine which has more searches per day than google. Do a search for Global Translator plugin.
if you're using it to try and make existing content 'unique', it probably wont help. In fact, it may hurt - it looks 'blackhat' and can trip the se's lexical statistics filters.
Yes, great idea However you must find the popular foreign forums, and text properly, and know what is hot in the country at that time. Goodluck
Thank you for your answers. I do see quite different opinions, though: the translations could make the site look black hat ( why?) or it could improve and increase my traffic. I wonder who is right ? Thank you again for taking the time to post your comments.
its not blackhat at all i have had this plugin installed for over 6 months and my google traffic has increased as a result so i would`nt worry about any google penalties
In the present time I don't heard to exist translator software to give you 100% correct translation. I think that is not good for some search engines that check also if the translated phrases have sense. If the page is translated to a language unapproved by Google and you use adsense for example, what would happen with the account? Probably will be suspended or you will receive a warning. Read first the TOS of the contextual ads you use, if you use them.
you will get a lot of indexed pages, it will increase the hits and it is not a duplicate content.I used it before
Hello Grouse and rootbinbash, you are still referring to the WordPress Global Translator Plugin, am I right? Thank you.
Are you sure you know what you're talking about? The biggest chinese search engine is Yahoo! by about 65% of all searches there. Google makes up a good close second with about 25% if I remember correctly. I read this somewhere just the other day. Still, I don't know if it really hurts anything.
I'm testing it on a few blogs. And to be honest I'm not sure it is making much of a difference. I don't notice any additional foreign traffic. My blogs target USA customers so they may not be relevant to this discussion. I believe all you can do it try it on a blog over time, test it and see if it works for you. The bottom line is it "might" boost you a bit, but what we really want is targeted traffic that converts. If you choose to do so, do you have customers or a monitization method that will work with foreign traffic?
It's a good idea, when you're using 'global translator plugin' and activate the 'sitemap integration', the translated pages will also indexed by google and it'll improve foreign traffic...
