As far as my opinion is concerned, i dont recommend to start cooking recipe website if your goal is to earn money on internet. the simple reason is, that people will definitely visit your website and read the cooking recipe but only if its free of cost because there are thousands of such sites already available to read and they are all free. but if your goal is just to have some good and popular website, its not a bad idea

Exactly. If it is something you want to do, don't worry about the competition. If you have quality content you will rise above the competition. I also agree, use a WordPress.org hosted site, that would be the easiest way. Good luck!

I think it's a great idea and yes, use Wordpress by all means. I find Wordpress very flexible with an easy to navigate interface. All the best to your project! :)

The cooking niche is still very popular, so if you have some unique insights it is recommended

@obscurant1st - I think what golfpro1 meant is that a recipe website will benefit stay-at-home moms or individuals. You might want to include quick to prepare meals to for people on the go. :)

Of course this is a great idea. Cooking websites, particularly food recipe blogging sites, are wildly popular right now. Since you want to create a very niche-oriented site (Indian food specifically), this is even better! I say go for it. Indian food is my favorite cuisine! Once you create that site, let me know for sure! :)

I would niche it down as much as possible into a certain type of Indian food, and develop an expertise on that for starters. Become the destination for "that kind of food" when people are looking for it. Have the largest quantity of interesting things to say about it--from you and other sources.

Unless you are a chef or so passionate about cooking, you can have a recipe website for sure. For others the main problem is content.

So my question is how do i get rights to some indian recipe content? or is there anyway to buy it? I did some search, but didnt find any.

@techieperson - I don't think you can get rights on Indian recipes, unless it is your original recipe (i.e. no one has done it EVER) and you can't really patent a recipe (I think so, not sure if you actually can). Apart from posting recipes on the site, you can write articles on what your favorite Indian dishes are and why. You can write about the different Indian spices and their origins and where you can buy them if you're living in another country. If you are passionate enough about a niche, I'm sure you'll find plenty of things to put in your site aside from just recipes.

Hi guys, i have started putting posts in my website. Plan to post 2 to 3 posts per day. I have sorted out like 500 recipes, with the help of my mom actually! <3 !
I guess it is good enough, or do i have to increase the number of posts per day?
btw you all are welcome to my website:
    http://indianrecipesforall.com

thanks for all your valuable suggestions! Also more suggestions are welcome!

It depends if you are passionate about cooking recipe, and that there is a quite a lot of demand for your recipes, the two factors you have to take into consideration when starting a site is if you are knowledgeable about the subject area, and if folks will be searching for the keywords

It depends if you are knowledgeable on the recipes, and know that there is a demand for it, it would take some research to find out if the search volumes can be profitable

Your site is looking all the more better since I last visited it. I'm not too happy with the big ad on the left hand side though. I find it distracting. Anyway, posting 2 or 3 recipes in a day is good. Have you considered adding maybe a few personal posts as well, like sharing a favorite recipe and why. I think that will give your site a more personal touch that will make your visitors feel that there *is* a person behind the site and that it is not just a repository for recipes.

But remember don't expect to get a lot of traffic in the beginning.
If you don't quit, you will success eventually.
    Good luck.
