Is it a good idea to display an RSS Feed on a site ?

As a feature on my music site I want to include an RSS feed to display news about the singer.

Would I be better of too display something that is heavily syndicated like Yahoo News or am I better off with something that can display the latest blog posts like Technorati or Google blog search ?

Am I better of not doing anything with RSS ?

RSS should be used to update the new posts that you have in the site where you would give information about the artist. Using it to display the things you would "post" about would waste the reader's time to go to your site.

    That's just my take.

creating rss feed for your site may help your seo but if you mean creating content with the other sites rss feeds, i dont think that is a good idea

I was thinking about adding one to my polling site for new polls, but first created a poll to see if people actually use them. I had just started it 2 days ago. Here is the link: http://www.apopularitycontest.com/display_poll.php?ID=5884

I created one for my road rage site, and I do get a little traffic from that one.

There are issues to be aware of when using RSS to provide content to your site. If you just use rss to scrape content without providing any added value or unique content and pass it off as your own content, you may get treated like an MFA site. Google can ban you and people will hate you. However, if you take a portion of the feed and use it to show people what is going somewhere else and provide the link to that resource and you are providing it as a reference along with your unique added value, then you are providing a community service. Google will like you because of fresh content and others will appreciate the traffic. Try and strike a good balance of your own content and snippets of others with links to the source.
