is .info worth the money?

I have a few .info domains since they are dirty cheap... but I'm beginning to think, is it worth it? Would it be better to have a few .com's instead of a lot of .info's?

I would say definitely keep a few dot com rather than many info. Dot com is more value keeping than dot info.

to worth something a .info domain must have good keywords and/or be developed websites ... what i'm trying to say is that there is no value (yet) in "short and brandable" dot info, better keyword rich than keyword smart ... just my 2c

As with most things in life: It depends on the QUALITY.

Owning Loans.info, Games.info, Pedicures.info would be better, IMO, than owning HowToGetFreePedicuresOnline.com or FreeGamesOnTheInternetNOW.com

Based on the prices provided by the domain name registrar, the .info is only offered at below cost for the first year and after that the renewal fees goes back to the standard prices. This step is to encourage people to use the domain name. I guess the value of the domain name would depend on the site behind it. With the 12 months, I supposed it all depends on you to build value to the domain name.

Of course for type-ins, the .com would be easier to remember and naturally people will type that option first. For non-type-ins, it would not make much of a difference. However, if you ask me, I would pick the .com option first and if it is not available then I would choose other TLD like the .info . I only register the the .info alternative to prevent anyone else to taking it.

It would depend on the quality of your .info domains; good .info would be worth more than a bad .com.

Depends on the Quality of the .com compared to the .info. If you have a fantastic .info, it's worth way more than a crappy .com

When they represent an area, state, or popular place like www.longisland.info or www.newyork.info they are worth a bundle... I like .info mostly for information and travel portals.

web users are very savvy these days. .com can be associated with heavy sales sales and sales - people switch off and maybe even avoid hard sell sites

.info is..... info and can be used for a more softer sell

just a thought - so I suppose it depends on what they are

depends what your putting on it - if its just a quick semi small - not godly site then (questionably whether it should go anywhere but..) a $3 .info does the job - and the best thing about .info's is you can get almost anything easily - e.g. 4 letter .infos etc.

as with all things its good to have a cross-section at your disposal :D

IMO .info domains are worthless. of course saying that there will be the odd one or two which could be used by an end user but many kids think they are getting a real TLD and expect to make big $$ from it. Keep dreaming kiddies.

Depends on the domain name of your .info, but it's much better to keep your .com's since they are more valuable.

Mainly, one word .info's can be very valuable if they are good words, like locations as mentioned above. I heard an ad on the radio for travel to Germany and it advertised the site Germany.info. Other than that, I would be careful stepping in to two-word domains, only if they are very very good (creditreport.info, etc.).

Depending on the type of site you plan to build, .info extensions may be better than a longer .com.

Anyone clicking on a .info domain is probably expecting to see an information related site. I think it limits you in some ways and adds credibility in others.

.info extensions are catching on much quicker than I thought they would. The general public seems more eager to click on them than say a .org which they assume to be a charity or other type of organization.

I would rather have travel.com because I can do sooo many things with it but travel.info may help draw people who want travel information rather than wanting a site to book a trip right now. Travel.org probably wouldn't get someone to click unless they were doing research or the link was cloaked. (My opinion anyway)
