The domain extension isn't important. The content and quality of the directory is what matters. See of the pages of the directory are indexed in Google. If they are you have a better chance the directory will pass some link juice.
.info domains tend to be cheap. Some directory owners buy a whole bunch and put directories on them. The only problem is they are all sharing the same IP on the same server. There is a school of thought that indicates multiple directories on the same IP will carry much less weight than a directory on its own IP by itself.
