Do you feel that india is an upcomming online market, minght not seems to have a definate demand right now but as far as future prospect is conserned it seems to have lot of potential. Is anybody dealing in Online Indian Market, can you post your sites link.
Sure India is coming up as an online market but we need better online payment systems. Like we can accept paypal payments but to withdraw them is a total mess. They can launch ebay.co.in but cannot transfer payments to indian banks like they do in USA banks.( paypal is an ebay company) Banks in USA provide a "credit card number" processing machine to take orders from internet to small businesses but nothing here. ( these machines don't require the actual credit card of the person ordering just the number). Long way to go. regards jeet
yup, people have credit cards now, but most are not comfortable using it, what to talk using it online
You can try namaste.com's affiliate program (CJ) I had a site in which we used to sell the (indian) products all over the world and was doing well. But had to close it down because of lack of time.... Its still running and fully functional, just that not promoted any more. PM me if any one wants to know the URL
As far as Internet is concerned , India is way far behind developed countries. India has 5% internet penetration (50 million users )...which is nothing compared to 68% of US (203 million users). Even from this 50 million ...a large proportion of users access the internet from cyber cafes and are not well versed with online transactions. The times spent on the internet by an average user in India is much less than the time spent by an average user in developed markets. India has been a late starter in the Internet world. Till two years back hardly anyone used internet regularly , but the coming of broadband to India is changing things fast. Right now broadband is restricted to 50 or so cities only. Also most online transactions require Credit Cards . Credit Cards are not very popular in India yet...but this will change. You are right ... today India may not look as an attractive market , but it has a lot of potential . Many of the developed countries are near saturated...and internet penetration cannot grow much from here. The number of internet users in India is increasing very fast. Not only that , their purchasing power is also increasing with the economic boom in India. Things are not changing as fast as I would have liked but I think a decade from here India will be a great online market.
There is a high literacy rate in India and a great deal of interest in media of all kinds --- but the per-capita income in western terms is very low. So as internet access becomes less expensive a great number of Indians will come on line, but, on average, they will be less interested in buying. Still, it will be an excellent market for some kinds of goods.
If you take an example of BPO,The Current publishing outsourcing revenues in India are estimated at around $200 million and it is slated to touch $1.1 billion by 2010 as per research report by ValueNotes, this is really encouraging, I believe, India is certainly going to be a hot distination for online market.
I think India will be an important market in the future, just because of the amount of population. It's just a matter of changing that 5% internet penetration to 15% and you will have 150 million users. That is a huge market.
Ya, 5% of India is probably more than whole of sri lanka!!! ( Or just U.P state may be...) Just kidding... Bye jeet
namaste.com - This company's partnership with Commission Junction is currently inactive. Anyway India has a Lot of potential, but it will comeup when everyone starts using Plastic Money
Yeah, India is definitely going to be a huge online market. However, it does take time. The level of internet penetration and internet literacy is pretty low when compared with developed countries.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned yet is that Indians with larger per capita incomes generally have migrated to the US or other nations or usually at least have US based bank accounts, credit cards, mailing addresses, etc for transactions online. Its a pain in the ass to establish these, but indeed possible.
People here in india have credit cards i mean many have it but i dont think anyone uses it online, because they think its unsafe
a lot is required to be done and in a different way. Those practices which have succeded in other markets may not get success here. You need to think from indian point of view and how you can sell your products. The best part is indian online market is still in nascent stage. So there is no competition. Start working from now on and 5 years after you will be leader in your area.
