Lets wait and see if the IE8 will be the last.. First we have to see how good/bad it will be. ;)

Such speculations have surfaced every now and then and I seriously doubt that IE8 would be the last in the line for MS.

At best, they might try to re-launch a web browser by different name but I do not see them throwing in the towel in this segment.....not yet!

You really should do some research before putting your foot in your mouth like that.

Internet Explorer is still far and away the most used. The average user doesn't know Firefox exists and they don't care either.

This thread is a joke. Yes, Microsoft is going to give up 67% of the browser market because YOU think their browser sucks. Very logical statement. Google owns 65% of the search market. Do you think they're going to give it up tomorrow?

Microsoft has given up about 30% of the market already because their browser DOES suck.

Well honestly, I don't think either IE or Firefox are the best. IE may have more users but in all reality thats only because IE comes preinstalled on most windows pcs. Many people don't even realize that there's an option for which browser to use. Just recently though I've been trying out Chrome and have been quite impressed. It's fast, secure, simple and well, it's Google, my favorite email and search engine. Many people are going to make the switch as long as Google markets it properly. And with Google's financial backing and research capabilities it's really only a matter of time before they come in and wipe both IE and Firefox out of the picture. They need to take a good hard look at Chrome because people love their Google.
