If they continue to go their own way and are not compliant with w3c standard and w3c trend, it would be the last version .
Many users (my parents and my sister for example) don't even know there are other browsers. They just use the one that comes with Windows. Microsoft must continue to bundle a browser with Windows. Maybe a partnership with Mozilla or something, if they don't want to develop IE anymore?
Why aren't you educating them? Why? There's no reason they must. Provide an installation option for several browsers, sure, but no reason to auto install one.
I seriously doubt that. Microsoft is a company which can do anything to get ahead . Discontinuing their browser doesn't seem to be microsoft way of doing things.
I don't think IE8 is the last version of IE. Microsoft is working hard to improve its browser and IE7 and 8 are a bit better than the previous versions at least in terms of looks. It would be a bad idea for Microsoft to discontinue IE.
IE has just not lost all it's popularity because it comes installed in almost every new computer. Firefox has been gaining more and more for the last 3-4 years and it's popularity grows everyday. Personally, I rarely use IE because firefox has such a wide range of plug ins that beats IE in almost every aspect. My vote goes for firefox.
I think, Microsoft should give attention to plugins, not just add all function in the program. Mostly people don't require all plugin those are default in IE. And definitely, this is not the last version, IE will come as long as Microsoft Exist. Microsoft should May take Mozilla, (Google Have left it, [I think]), So, that It will be great for Microsoft to rule in Browsers. Although, IE itself is not bad, its great too.
They should stop making IE and start fresh with a whole new browser cuz IE is just slow and terrible.
You are misinformed Firefox is the most popular browser at the moment, Internet Explorer does not come with add-ons that stop XSS (cross site scripting). Firefox on the other hand does. (add-ons like, no-script, better privacy, firebug, flashblock, etc) Google have never had anything to do with Mozilla (used to belong to netscape) thats the free software foundation and open source... Microsoft couldn't buy it even if they wanted it! (not after what they did to netscape in the past!) Sam if its going slow then check your setup it could be any number of factors, like speed of the connection, DNS settings, lack of CPU speed or RAM, it's not the browser thats slow thats your computers setup. etc.. I cant realistically see them throwing in the towel although they should! It has to be the most hated browser on planet earth!
Yeah. They've done such a great job so far. 11 years behind all other browsers in modern techniques and code and security leaks like a sieve. You oughta love that.
