Apparently you'd be able to uninstall IE8 in Windows 7 but I doubt MS will drop its browser. It's still the most popular browser by far :p

I really wish it will be the last version of IE, the IE8, and I still think it won't be up against Firefox, functionality wise.

Users of Internet explorer are dropping every month, imagine that a company who's own software is installed on nearly computer can't hold on to it's market.

Firefox is now fast approaching Explorer as the most used browser and I say well done, Firefox is 10X better than explorer.

Check out all the add-ons for firefox

 I don't know where you get your info from but on my site visitors using IE droped from 70% a year ago to 65% today while visitors using FF droped from 25% a year ago to 23% today. Safari users have increased from 1% to 5% and Chrome users are 3%. I don't see Firefox fast approaching Explorer as the most used browser at all

Slowly buy surely Firefox is taking the ground from explorer, amazing considering they are not installed on new computers like explorer is.

"The open source browser climbed to 24 percent of users in February while IE6 dipped to just over 22.6 percent, making Firefox the second most popular browser by individual version."

Firefox eclipses IE6 in web share, threatens IE7

NetApps, the most referenced source, shows Firefox at 22% market share while IE is at 67%. However, Xiti, a European company, shows FF at 33% and as high as 50% in parts of Europe and Asia/Australia.

Just 4 years ago, IE was over 95% usage and has lost market share almost every month since.

Another source reporting that IE will be dropped.

As long as Microsoft brings out new Windows, they will bring out new browsers.

Yeah they probably will bring out new browsers - but there be rubbish compared to Firefox. I actually try and avoid anything made by microsoft as much as possible, after many years and many versions + billions and billions of dollars I still have the same problems with vista as I did with the first version of windows I used - system lock-ups, crashes, stuff not working, wasting time trying to solve problems with it....

So you're saying Vista is no better than Windows 3.1?

IE users are dwindling everyday, so it wont be surprising if IE8 is the last. And now that Google has launched Chrome, it is probably best if it is the last

There's plenty of competition. Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari, Konqueror, K-Meleon, and more.

I hope not. Would hate to have to join the ranks of clueless fanboys who use wannabe browsers. IE is the only true browser. All other are desperate copycats unable to make do.

Microsoft should have stopped making browsers after version 6, much less version 8. If a company can not get a product right with over 10 years of development, its time to give up.

I could see Microsoft buying the code for opera or firefox and naming it "Internet Explore" before getting ride of their own browser.
