Hubpages is a web 2.0 website, so yeah you can submit your articles there in order to promote your website, I believe Hubpages use a score system, if your hub is scored over 80 (I think) then it turns to a dofollow backlink, you can increase the hub score by improving your hub, adding content and images to it and what not. Obviously hubpages is pretty much just like Squidoo, you need to create a decent page in order to get any traffic, obviously targeting low competition keywords is the way to go :)

Hub pages help you promote your products, but you have to be very careful and respect their rules. You cannot be over-promotional. You must provide helpful information besides promoting your products.

Quality content is very important online, especially after Google’s search algorithm changes. You must publish only original articles at your hubs, and mainly about topics you have not written too much online. One of my hubs was considered duplicate content only because I had already written too many articles online about my main article’s topic, while the article was totally original…

You have the right to have only two links promoting your websites in a hub.

You can also sell a few Amazon and eBay products, besides making money with your Adsense account and other ads.

I prefer creating Squidoo lenses that give you the opportunity to promote many links, sell many affiliate products, and get traffic through the discovery tool – in other words, from other lensmasters.

You don’t need to publish original content at your Squidoo lenses – even though if your article was already submitted to too many places it may be considered duplicate content and rejected by their system. Don’t use articles you have submitted everywhere online, but only to a few places. For example, you can use the articles you posted at your blog, and you sent to two or three article directories without any problems, but if you’ll submit an article to the free traffic system that sends your articles to 30 auto-blogs, this article will be considered duplicate content by Squidoo and you won’t be able to publish it in a lens. So, use old articles with caution.

Write many hub pages and create many Squidoo lenses. Both are very good for many reasons.

I would not waste my time with hubpages. It seems to be the only place that does not like my articles. I think your overall score has to be 75 to have dofollow links

Hub pages allows it. But the point is you should stick with their guideline mainly you should not use duplicate content (If the content already published on your hub,it should not be used elsewhere)

Yes, you may.. But they are made on a great platform, if you use a blatant method of promotions they may block it, they accept anything informative

Hubpages is very strict most especially when your write ups are closely promotional.
