Is it bad to have a site that is set up like this: http://TrueCheaters.com/forums/ Going to just http://TrueCheaters.com will automatically redirect to the /forums/ location. I set it up like this so I could later make a home page with info but I don't know when I'll get to that. Someone said that Google won't like it that the top URL is redirected and it could result in poor SERP/SEO. Is this true?
I think I Agreed with you, your homepge shoulgn't redirect like that, but you could do it with 301 redirect, don't use http refresh, good luck
Thanks. I think I'll just move my forums directly to the main url for now. If/when I put up a main home page I can always move it back.
The person that said Google won't like it that the top URL is redirected and it could result in poor SERP/SEO is right and personally I would keep away from that kind of thing.
Just in time, I have one site that was setup this way. I installed the supposedly 'main page' in a subdirectory and did some redirection. I don't think it would make a difference because as they say SEO is not about your main page but for every page of your site.
