Thanks a lot to you and GTech. I don't know if it's that I'm a good debater as much as it is that my arguments are supported by reality. That makes things pretty easy. I'd hate to have Guerilla's job of proving how evil the U.S. is.

P.S. @baconbits : It's good to see some more people here lately that aren't from the "hate America" crowd. If you're going to post here and not hate America, be prepared to take all kinds of s***.

 

Yeah reality, like the reality that we caused the situation by getting rid of the brutal dictator who kept the shit together. Sure would appear to me to 'win' you would need to solve that problem.

But I guess it's ok to create a mess and leave it, all the while claiming 'victory' and mixing a few facts to try to prove your claim.



I've seriously gotta find some place where people argue politics with some actual logic, I am so tired of this childish drivel, so very tired.

 

My agenda is pretty narrow these days. DP is an authority site, which makes posting news and articles good SEO. Other than that, I could care less if you are the king of P&R now. It's a crown of thorns, and you can have it.

That said, if you're posting like you used to post, a lot of it is inaccurate. Which is fine. People want to believe whatever they are told, as long as it fits into their worldview and doesn't make them question things. You get the pleasure of posting propaganda, and others get the comfortable sense of being reassured that the blood spilt and wealth destroyed might not really be their responsibility. Everyone is happy.

At the end of the day, no one from P&R will cast a deciding vote, or give a crucial order. No one will write a history book, or save an innocent person's life. The discussions are meaningless. Vacuous. Empty. They wash away.

But the link value remains. It's wonderful being able to promote ideas and knowledge that might change the world.

I'll tell you a quick story. A few weeks ago, I was going to take a break, and a young man PM'd me, asking for tips on economics for a discussion he was having. I was surprised he asked me, I'm certainly no teacher. I took a lot of pride in trying to answer his question and since then, I've taken a lot of pride in getting people to think, and they ask me smart questions in turn, which makes me smarter. And it's a wonderful exchange, there is no mindless chest thumping, name calling or degenerate insults. It's just a few people getting off on self-educating, and becoming more comfortable and capable of surviving in a world populated with self-serving morons and evil tyrants.

I don't know what you want out of life, an I don't know what you need. But whatever it is, I hope you find it. I hope you find happiness. Honestly.

Sorry this is an old post, user was on ignore at the time. Not going to put to much effort into this, however I had to correct dishonest posts as I see them.

The main dishonest point in here is as follows.
1) grim does suggest al sadr was paid off.

Lets look at the posters select bolds for starters.

Now lets look at it as it's intended.

In the users response he bolds in such a way to draw attention from the true meaning of the post. I do not state Al Sadr was paid off, please see there are 3 reasons brought up in the post, bold, underline, bold,

3 totally different reasons, nowhere does it suggest I am stating Al Sadr is paid, I am suggesting we are paying people not to fight, Al Sadr's cease fire, and the surge.

Look at how the poster selectively bolded on his end, let this be a lesson to read items in their entirety and not following the bold that a user places into a quote.
