    i did a quick compare of Webmaster tools with other sources and it appears that Webmaster tools does not have them all, including some from DP.

    If you optimize your website for Google, then you have to use GWT. It`s not 100% accurate, it has some delays, but like other users says: it`s the best online tool.

    Google webmaster tools is not 100% accurate, but its best than the other tools, ...
    Yahoo site explorer is also very good tool to check the backlinks for websites..

    Google and Yahoo have different qualifications in checking or telling the number of your backlinks.
    You can have hundreds on Google but you can have thousands in Yahoo.
