    No, i dont think so. I think this idea its trying to take over the world is a little exaggerated, maybe its trying to dominate the marketplace.

    If by world, you mean internet world....then it surely is trying its best to dominate every segment of this industry.

    But this kind of monopolistic leader can never sustain its position in the longer run and there eventually will be a challenger rising to defy its dominance...

    Well said! Change is inevitable in the universe whether it is in an industry , in a philosophy or in any process. Google is an event no doubt , like Microsoft, Ford,Sony or anyother XYZ. This too shall pass.

    what do you mean by "Taking over the world"?. I don't think so. when one company trying to give the best quality products people will be using that. worst case is when there is no other company could not think like google. That is happening now because other internet companies MS and Yahoo are not upto Google level. If you ask my opinion, Apple is more powerful than google. Google is just the internet pioneer. Just imagin how apple's products influence the world. Mac (PC), iPhone(Mobile),iPod(Music),iTune(Movies),me.com(Internet).

    we as webmasters try to target #1 position in google search for as many key words as possible.

    My vote: No. I think If we want to know about one company's power. we can see company economy charts in stock market. we find other companies more powerful than google.

    It is not only about the financial status of the company. The nature of the business. If you take Google, it is wholly depend on the CPC ads, if some one come up with better one google will find difficult to survive. That too looking into the market value is not certain.

    But it has virtually taken over the web, that's for sure....SEO's trying to decode google's page ranks...it shows it all

    In my opinion i think google is just trying to put its influence there... just to share their ethos with the world... i mean if they were trying to take it over, surely they'd be raking more money out of us charging for googlemail, taking a bigger cut from adsense etc
