I used to optimize for Google only, got tons of traffic from them, lately google has dropped to my #3 search engine, I have less traffic and more revenue. I'm doing everything I can against the google terms of service just for a laugh, what a waste of time that was (two years) tiptoe-ing around google's rules. I do what I want for my site now and I get a lot more money.

Just so everyone knows, I'm in Stocks and Investing... I get more traffic from Google for sure (or used too) but not a single visitor from them seems worth it, I'll bet anything they fake traffic just to make webmasters think they're the best search engine in the world. Bye bye Google! Thanks for wasting my bandwidth! If things continue I'm going to disallow google to all of my sites.

I still find that google provides 10 visitors for every I get from other search engines. Bearing in mind that the other search engines rank us higher for the same search terms I value google as a visitor provider.

unfortunately, google is the prime SE for my sites. it is cool for when you get to the top for the first time, but now i hate it. my only dream is to make google max. 30% of my referrals. unfortunately, that is tougher and more expensive than one may think :(

For regular searches, I get most of my visitors from Yahoo and MSN. For google I have more work to do...

    But Google Images rocks! :)

Google is where it is at and accounts for about 70% of Search Engine traffic.

Yes, my primary visitor source is Google. On some sites it's mainly google.com/custom and images.google.com/imgres.

find it on the web stats on your admin panel. then looks on the http referer. i'm using cpanel and it's all clearly stated.

if you use free instant hosting, try to find on the control panel to get the stats info or ask the site admin.

How long did it take for you to come out of the sandbox?

I am going on about 3 months and still no dice.

Worse off, no matter how many directories I submit to and link exchanges that I do - google still only show 12 backlinks.

Does being #16 in google help? Or do you find the most people only go to the pages between 1 - 10?

It definitely helps. Most people will scan through at least results 1-50 until they find what they are looking for.

It depends on the keyword and the quality of sites holding positions 1-10.

For me, if I'm not inthe top ten, I might as well be #1,000.

Being at #18 will definately help however if you are not on the first page of results then it will definatelly hurt. Someone made a point to me that may be true I was told the best places to be are of course in the top 3 or pos 9 or 10 and lastly pos 11,12,13 The reasoning behind this is that alot of people will look at the first 3 results then scroll to the bottom of the page without looking at the others in between so pos 9-10 and if they go to page 2 you will be a t the top in 11,12,13 . I don't know if there are any facts behind this however it does make sense.
