People don't really use Google+ as social network, but it's very important to have a business page for SEO. If you write a new blog post and immediately post in on Google+, it will help your blog post to be indexed faster and get generally higher rankings.
I doubt he really meant dead, like there's 0 people hanging there. I don't understand part that it doesn't cost... it costs time if you're going to use it for marketing purposes... and that time could be redirected to something that brings money or something other that G+ doesn't. If google shuts down G+ tomorrow will that mean that it suddenly died in one day, because day before that it wasn't shut, therefore it was live? Your last point... I won't even comment that
Yes i think google plus is dead because its not effective in soe as it before. You can't get traffic also from google plus now.
I got a lot of traffic from the old Google+ when I had a blog about five years ago. I created an account for my forum there about a year ago, and I was surprised to not get any traffic from it. They changed the way they do things and it pretty much killed it as far as promoting a website is concerned. It seems to pretty much be a ghost town over there.
sites are much tougher to get off the ground, and too be honest, quite a few things are dead these days.... not only that, I do not feel that social media is the buzz any more since it does nothing for ranking, and if you do not have mass amount of followers, then social media does nothing at all.... on top of all the above, if you do not know what you are doing concerning running a site, then google will just end up burning your house down, and google will not lose any sleep over it either....
Google is not going to help you by searching for a fire extinguisher... that is funny as hell if you think that, instead google search will say....
Most of the social media users are on facebook and twitter that doesn't mean google plus is dead. I get more traffic from google plus than facebook on my website.
It's not "dead" exactly. It still has value and it is a great way to find other people by group. The communities are great.
As Naina S indicates there is some very noticable SEO benifits to utilizing Google plus. For example anyone in yer circle logged in to google plus that does a search for a key term or product you have within your profile, your content will actually show up at the top results! And yes, it takes quite a long time to get yer 100 followers even, but like any platform, the more user base you have the quicker the snowball effect of growth occurs. The traffic in my analytics indicates they're premium quality for my niche, averaging visit times of 3 minutes which is good for my bouncy demo graph lol! Personally I like the platform, and the way it's laid out, it just sucks that the vast majority of the userbase is not in the US. But for all stated benefits and additionally slightly higher rankings on youtube, if you don't play the plus game your losing out big time!
Google Plus does not exist anymore. And from this point of view, Google+ died to give way to a new social network. Therefore, and at the risk of being wrong, Google+ should have another name to better reflect what Google wants it to be in the eyes of the public as a true new social network.
Technically it does still exist and people do still use it. What have I missed? What is new since G+?
