Is Google Page Rank Really Relevant?

I was just wondering that Google might have designed the page rank system based on the premise that higher the links a site has from other sites, higher would be the traffic to that site. However, I see so many sites that are having a very high page rank (since they might be having links from so many other sites) but do not have a very good volume of traffic. Also doesn't this system undermine the importance of good and relevant content on your site? Again I have seen so many sites which do not have a very good content and also might be having wrong grammar in their content, but still those are ranked by google. Please share your thoughts on this.

 

I think serps are more important. The place your site is listed in search results for your keywords makes the biggest impact on your site. If you have high page rank and are not listed good for keywords that get traffic it does nothing for your site.

 

So are we saying that the sites with good pagerank and low traffic are missing out on traffic bringing keywords and should get listed for good keywords Though, I agree with your point that getting listed high on the SERPs would really be helpful for the sites to get traffic.

a site with a high PR but not so great serps is almost usless.

all the owner could do with said high pr site is sell links to other sites, as its not getting enough traffic to sustain ads, sales etc.

a site with a lower pr but better serps will ultimately succeed. serps > pr

the only people who use / look at PR are webmasters trying to boost it, ask any every day web browsers if PR effects there browsing experience and they will either say:

a) what is page rank
b) i dont care what PR a site is if its relevant to my search term.

also remember, a lot of the sites you have seen with high pr / low traffic most probably bought links. paid links dont necessarily mean high serps.

 

It also has a lot to do with search volume. If a site has high PR, and high SERP, but if their keywords are less searched overall, it could mean low traffic.

 

When it comes to PR, content relevancy would not affect the PR score. It's the quality of links that affect the PR. Higher Pr doesn't matter that you will get higher traffic from search engine. Even the site has less PR it can get a lot of traffic if it gets higher SERP.

 

High PR comes from high PR backlinks and it may never result in ranking and traffic if the links are not from relevant sites. Ranking and traffic comes from backlinks from relevant sites and those links may not necessarily give high PR if they dont have high PR.

it's full of waste time. serp is better

 

Who gives a crap about page rank it's all about serps and since I am in the top ten for a very high searched keywords I could care less about page rank...It means almost nothing to many and something to few.....IE link sellers.
