Just got an subscribe mail from webpronews about directories buying links being penalized by google (manually?). Heres the article:
Not sure whether there is anything official from G on this subject there is a lot of speculation but as far as I am aware no official news on these issues has been forthcoming from G
I think Google has a lot more issues to worry about. Directory will continue to provide their services and life will go on with or without Google
As far as I know Dave's directory still ranks number one for his directory name and had over 860 pages indexed in gooogle so this might just be a temporary blip. Plus Matt Cutts has had an opportunity to talk about this today on DP and he chose not to. He has been very forthcoming in the past about penalizing certain sites, so I wonder if his lack of a comment when asked about this simply means there is nothing more to it?
ya, i still digg directory links~ they are one of the best ways to get targeted and interested traffic for your site.
my qoobe web directory got affected, but suddenly came back after a week. probably some so called google human editor is reviewing every directory.
LOL ! Its ok eli as you do not have a PR9 link and by the way its a PR8 now. When Google checked your site you did not BUY (excuse moi link exchange)with a lot of those high Page Rank links. LOL ! Somebody reported this thread and got transfered so many will miss the rampant link exchange for PR9 links PR8 links including Chicago newspaper links.
This is only for few directories which are highly promoted on web or highly interlinked promoted Aviva, Alive, Big Web Links, ewebpages, Directory Dump, Elegant Directory, and Biz-Dir.
wow ...megri thats a name i remember from the past some off those are already returning for whatever reasons so...
I am very much sure this is not a algorithmic flux and for these directories will take a long to rank well again. If you guys remember in mid of July same action was taken against of text-link-ads.com and they not even rank for "text link ads" keyword.
Here is new article on it http://www.seomoz.org/blog/what-mak...y-and-why-google-penalized-dozens-of-bad-ones
