Do you think google.com is here to stay. I mean do you think in the near future another company could mean a threat to the search engine. Will it ever die?
The problem is that the term 'search' has been replaced by 'google it' and once such an expression is so well known, how can others compete? Yahoo has had adverts on every World Cup pitch, Ask have been advertising on TV - but who's still top? Gooooog!
Yeah they should be hear to stay for quite a bit longer. As longs as they don't forget to renew their domain they should be alright. lol
Adidas is a generic name in some countries. And yet, when you think of Athletic Shoes, you think Nike. Not to mention that no so long ago, when you thought of Internet Searching, you thought Yahoo! or Altavista.com So Google does not have to be number one in the future. But my bet is on this: They will be still number one. They're too good not to be.
Google was the first search engine to become mainstream. Everybody in the UK uses google to search. There is no way to turn people off google even if it serves up crap results.
Then isn't it just amazing that Google continues to improve on the search engine? If Google would just stop investing (I didn't say decrease quality, just not increase it), it would be a matter of time until it would be left behind by its competitors. Yahoo! was first. Why stop using it if it's almost as good as Google?
I think Google has more long term goals than any other search engine. It prolly will expand into many other areas. I don't ever see Google going down, just changing a lot.
I give Google 5 years max. Some day an insider will leak about massive fraud with thier adwords/adsense program and that will be it.
Google is a major player, they eventually are going to offer wireless access and bypass ATT and Microsoft too with a Linux distro that they will give away for free for mobile devices, it will also be offered as a pre-load on desktops and laptops!
There is this one big problem with Google: no focusing. Almost each of the products they launch don't have it's own web site, but a sub domain of Google. Microsoft does the same - it launches brands under the Microsoft brand and under the Microsoft web site. General Motors - the same. How does P&G? Different brands - different products. No P&G specific product, but each product has its own name. Coca-Cola? Except for variations like New Coke, Diet Coke ..., each product has a different market. General Motors does bad, Microsoft has a poor image, and Google is the best tool only with Google Earth and Google search engine. P&G - success on a lot of markets. Coca-Cola? Different brands, different success stories. What I am trying to say is that Google does a very poor thing by trying to have one brand with different products. One web site - a lot of products. That's very bad, and I think that Google will have some problems with that. He will surely survive, but it will have some troubles.
