We'll never know. Alta Vista was one of the largest search engines 10 years ago, where are they now?

As long as Google don't stop in improving their SE it won't happen.

Maybe it will be gone as in Netscape, remembered for its once mightiness. 10 years down the road, no one can predict, how many S curves in technologies do Google has to traverse during the time? One false move and it may end up in history as one of the great has been.

Eight years ago , most people had thought Yahoo will be cool at least ten years, but now nobody would think that Yahoo is cool as before.
So it's hardly to say what google will be after ten years.

Wow... finally some knowledgeable people not kissing Googles @$$.

Google is a great company, but with the way technology has developing who knows what the heck we're going to have in 1-2 years... there are some super geniuses all around the world developing new ideas which make what we have now obsolete. I definitely think Google will "always" (by our generation) be remembered, but can't vouch that they will always be #1. Have to adjust to the times... as of now, Google is in... if in the future my money will be made with another SE... then so be it. I think Google will still be alive and kicking in 10 years, but I have a feeling we'll have other companies super-specializing in different webmaster niches/providing people with great services.

10 years from now there will be many changes happen, maybe Google still on the top or maybe other SE's will excel and beat Google, we will never know, there are a lot of things that may happen!

The thing that diferenciates google from others is that they are doing more at once. They are not just a search engine, they do 100s of different stuff, and when they combine all these in a operating system online, then we will see how they will really rule the world :D

I think Google wil eventually buy any real concurrent in SE or simply copy their technology. With the financial resources they have it will be very easy.

I think the only reason why Google can go is when some geek develops AI SE with unique technology that none can copy...
