Geez some weird stuff happened to my site today... got me worried

I was ranking #3, #5, #7 for some big keywords in my niche..... probably for the last 6 months... including yesterday

    Then, today.. this is weird

Im not ranking anymore for those keywords, or any keywords...... however I do come up #1 for my company name

And even stranger...... my subpages are ranking.... while my homepage is not

Is Google updating...or am I screwed?!?!....

I was using all white hat techniques....... except I just got a bunch of backlinks, a ton, but I doubt that's it......

Anyone know whats goin on??? Has this happened to anyone???!

I didnt buy them..... buncha crappy directory, blog, article links.... really did a bunch of link building

However, there is one major change to the site that happened..... I had about 5-10 links to other pages of the site....... but now put about 75-100 links to other pages of the site

No outbound links anywhere on the site

wait for few days. You may still get your rankings, google might be updating
Internal linking is never a problem. maybe you might have lost important incoming links. Check your google webmaster tools

Yes that's what I thought... but I didnt lose any, in fact gained a bunch...... and my subpages that rank crappy are ranking.......

Also, I understand Google has many datacenters.....

1 out of 20 times searching the keywords, I came up........... but I used to come up 20 out of 20 until today!!

I wonder if its the change in adding the content & links to the homepage..... I didnt keyword stuff or anything, im wondering what's going on!

Hopefully its just an update... and that I got so many backlinks Google is indexing me to the top!!!

You used to have 5-10 links pointing to pages on the same site. Now you have 75-100 links. That's the problem!

Revert back to your 5-10 links and you'll get your ranking back.

Now wait for Googlebot to recrawl these pages and redo the link graph for your site and then tell us if you have got your rankings back :)

    Good luck!

I think Google is unpredictable guys.. so this problem not only caused by inbound and outbound link.

LinkMaster, just use another google proxy by ip address to see the various stages of indexing. THEN use a IP PROXY to jump onto a SF local backbone and see what the local google proxy says. Indexing always shuffles for about 3 days.

This is just the SERP, don' expect that you would be in the top position always as other webmaster are always working on SERP.

Nah... this doesnt make any sense....

    Put it like this:

For the last 6 months, I've been consistently #3, #5, #7......................... and I have about 10 competitors for my niche in my city

Now...... Im not on any page at all.... ONLY my subpages come up... homepage disappeared..... however my homepage does come up #1 for my company name

I didnt lose any backlinks....... I just added 100 internal links on the homepage, and that's when everything changed.......

I think it was from puting the 100 links on the page.... that's the only time things changed

    One other strange thing...

If I type in 7 keywords into Google.... that my site SHOULD DEFINITELY come up #1 by putting these in....... my homepage doesnt come up, however a subpage does

    Very strange!!

well, google do not support SEO stuff so much, once they learn u use SEO especially not white hat.. they may discount your SERPs, just my 2 cents..

that's why i don't do much SEO rather than building more contents.. time will tell..

my friend site has 21 pages, but has PR2 LOL.. no updates or anything, but those 21 pages are unique and informative...

Im sick of this "content" bullshit people keep talking about... its the biggest crock of shit.... and I'm sick of hearing about it

Building "Great content" and sitting back and waiting.... yeah right.... go shit in a hat....

    Anyways, back down to reality...

Something happened to my site..... not sure what the hell happened.... its real estate related........ and I have a bunch of competitors...... everyone of them are using SEO techniques such as link-building......

Link building is the thing that set us all apart.... and I have been kickin their asses with 1,000's of links..... however I built them slowly, etc. ... no reciprocal, all one-way

Everything changed when I changed my homepage.... by adding 100's of internal links...... I now took them down

My subpages are ranking..... but my homepage is only ranking for 1 out of 10 keywords....... but just yesterday it 1st page all 10 keywords..... now theyre all gone not even #1,000

    Friggen crazy

Time will tell we'll see what happens..... I know one thing, Im just going to make 10 new sites and wipe the floor with my competitions heads & asses

I think the best you can do is just give it a couple of days ... as was said earlier - Google is probably just reshuffling their index.

And as much as you want to deny or argue the importance of content - unfortunately for you ... it is important - whether you like or not. Not the most important IMO, but still a relevant point.

Also, you might want to check those domains linking to you - if any of them are dodgy sites it could affect things as well.

Trust me I know, content is important...... but for some niches, and websites.... its a crock of shit advice to "build great content, and they will link to you".... its 100% bullshit

I have probably the best real estate website in my city....... and compete with about 100 other real estate websites....... good luck people linking to me in "good faith"....... I havent recieved one backlinks..... and neither have my competitors.... I check their links too

Its all SEO linkbuilding, etc. ..... hustling for links...... etc.

And yes, I hope its just a reshuffling.......... and Google will see my site is back to normal no more 100 links on the homepage... who knows........ I'll wait a few days and see.... but its very strange this happened, after 6 months of no problems
