Is google give preferance to the back link

    Hi All
    we all are know that google gives the preference to that back link that is come from the relevant website, but i wan to know that is there any benefits of the back link that is come from the content rich page, means if i have one page that is full of web site design contents and i give a back link to our website from this like i needs a back link for the GIS and i have got this link from a page that has lot of information about the gis here a website get lot of back link from different keywords http://marketstar.rediffblogs.com so is this is good, will search engine give a great benefits to this types of links, please give me some new ideas that is this type of back linking is useful or not

    i just understand that we are all confused with backlinks..and i prolly need a backlink for my brain :D
