I am in San Francisco. Web just came back up for me. I have Comcast as well. Funny thing, email and ICQ worked fine the whole time.
I am using Eutelsat at the office, and Gts Telecom at home. Google was down for me too. Seems like there's a frekin' problem with Google.
Yahoo and MSN were down too for me. I checked into the whole conspiracy thing. Definitely a problem with my ISP, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a problem at google too.
As far as I know, Comcast's dns servers in the east coast are down. You might wanna switch your dns server to level3
Looks like comcast runs windows dns servers: http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/04/08/1528213&tid=172&tid=95&tid=218
Last time Google and Yahoo went down at the same time along with other big sites it was Akami that was the problem.
Just wanted to get back in here and say that Comcast is really sucking badly lately. Their DNS problems have yet to be fixed. I was supposed to get my Speakeasy DSL modem today (for my 6Mb/768Kb line!), but UPS managed to put it on the wrong truck this morning, so I will have to wait until tomorrow. But, to be honest it will not be here soon enough. About one in three page requests I do end up timing out because of Comcast's DNS problems. Way to go guys.
Chachi my friend, Comcast and Time Warner are buying Adelphia Corp out of bankruptcy and this is BIG news (18 Billion Dollar deal) as they will control the majority of cable in this nation. http://www.windseek.com/query?se=w&q=comcast+time+warner+buy+adelphia&submit.x=20&submit.y=6 So with the convergence of Television and the Internet becoming the case real fast there will be many new realities to deal with for webmaters down the road like producing digital video for their sites and delivering it to the viewers (surfers) in real time. I always wanted to be in television, I am going to sign Lever before anyone else does
Here in the Netherlands, seeing the same thing.. Think it's dns spoofing.. Getting a redirect to com.org
Buggar! Glad I'm not going mad though.. ps. E10, did you know from October Jet2.com are flying to Tenerife from Leeds & Bradford International? Some usefull(less) information for you
