I hv still some doubts on this coz 1.The reason why nofollow is placed is to prevent pr juice leaking to linked site. 2.If google starts counting no follow then why it suggests to use no-follow in its official seo documents ? These 2 seems logical. But then I also noticed the same phenomenon when i linked a site from article dashboard directory which is now following a nofollow pattern.
It is said that nofollows will be gradually taken into consideration by Google. In the case of my own site, maybe 3 or 4 out of 10 nofollows can be counted.
Yes, Google do count NOFOLLOW links, but it does not pass the PR of the domain of link source and other niche info of source, it just count as a VOTE or backlink, that is it.
I think, no, Google does not yet count nofollow links as backlink! However, it may somehow affect rankings. As I read somewhere that a balance of number of dofollow & nofollow links will be beneficial for rankings in the long run.
The Poker man is right. Nofollow was also not invented by Google. That said, you should know that it is really meant to do is stop a bot from following the link. Nothing stops Google or anyone self from tracking where the link goes, and where the link was made. It's all up to how Google wants to handle the information they track.
and they don't have to take my word for it. I've explained a simple test that anyone can do within a week or so so they can see it for themselves.
Just to be upfront, I am an amateur at SEO. However, I do think you're right on this. I have a longtail phrase ( a wierd one that I tried back in the spring) that I rank #1 on google for and the only anchored text links I used for this phrase were all on one forum only and it is a no follow on the signatures which is the only place I had the text, that's it. It has really dumbfounded me how this happened. I thought no follow passed zero PR and SERP but I'm wondering if there is a little hidden value in the links somehow. (FYI, I'm way more concerned with SERP instead of PR for what I'm doing).
As far as my knowledge is concerned google is not indexing no-follow links. But ya yahoo keeps indexing nofollow links also.
It is clearly stated that nofollow links has no value. If you post good comment you can only get some visitors
Yes the Juice stops with nofollow! But can we really trust Google on every issue? Do you think they will give away the "keys to the farm"? Google is pretty shady themselves in my opinion!
I think that they're both pretty important (one obviously more than the other) but you can't just stop posting places that don't do dofollow.
I believe all backlinks matter, but do-follow backlinks matter the most. Now do-follow from a high page rank site that is anchored and relevant...Those carry the most juice, and will help you rise the most!
