same forum issue here. 11,000+ pages, down to 900. I ve noticed that the original post has been kept in the index, but not the archive, printable view and other dup copies of the original post.
Just to let you know guys, cause I know every body out there has a big concern about what is going on with "google madness". I think google is in love with my site http://www.pokerallstar.com , he he. Until last week all the pages of my site, except for the home page and a couple more where showed in the supplemental index, and it only displayed 16 pages of the whole site, and did not show in the serp`s at all. About 1 month ago I redid the title and metas, also started a blog a couple weeks ago, and did some optimization for the site as well as a redisign and code cleaning (pretty soon it will be up). I am decided to work hard on the site now and make it grow. Today google is displaying 42 pages of my site (is a small site, 53 pages), including the blog, 4 or 5 pages in the supplemental still but most of those are old pages that I deleted like a year ago (learning experience). So I guess those are good news for us, google will eventually get back out of it's insanity hopefully ?
from http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/02/technology/02google.html?pagewanted=2&_r=1 As per my comments earlier in this thread.
I had the same thing today with site dropping from 4000 to 40 page indexed. I did notice in google sitemaps that it showed several pages as being blocked by robots.txt. But they are not and the robot test page shows 'Allowed' Perhaps the crawlers have a bug and messed up indexed pages?
Has any one been able to get more than the index page indexed, on sites made after BD came along (Made with in the last two months)?!
Yep 3 of my sites have been 75%ish indexed which are less than 2 months old. I dont use google sitemaps, just good quality links....
Yes but things are much slower from getting home page indexed to deep crawled. It's like everything is in slow(er) motion then before.
This is an interesting thread to read Ninno. AND no .. I haven't been able to get ANY of my new websites, properly indexed. many have a few pages, many just one. And i know my shit.
According to threadwatch, Google is admitting to a problem with server space. Could this be related to all the churn recently? http://www.threadwatch.org/node/6493
Yes Google is running out of room to index websites so it is a mayor problem they have to solve fast.
The latest update brought me a surprise- a website was launched 2 weeks before the update, had about 50 IBLs from PR0 directories, about 10 recip. links, so I even didn't check its PR after the update, and now I just noticed it's PR 5!!!! Not only index page but almost all other pages. And now I am asking myself why am I spending hours on my other websites if they have PR 4 during last year no matter what I do and how hard I work
I wanted to let you guys know that my site is coming back today. It went from about 20,000 pages indexed down to as low as about 500 pages. Today it's back up to almost 10,000 pages and my traffic has gone back up accordingly. Good news I hope!
I have also noticed this... site:thelocalforum.co.uk/forum gives around 28k indexed pages site:thelocalforum.co.uk gives around 110 hmmm...
Yep. I launched one about 3 weeks ago. It's only about 20 pages, but all are indexed. Of course, the link: command still shows zero. /*tom*/
One of my new website get index in Google within 3 days after it been published. I don't know why and how it has a fast indexes.
like many folks here, I seen some of my large sites go from a ton of pages indexed down to only a few. Hopefully G fixes itself soon.
