Ankit, there are numerous threads including this one about things happening in Google. Before you barge in to the end of one of them (after 200 posts) and ask a question that broad and general, how about you do a little reading of the 1000 posts already in existence on that subject here at DP?

I really don't think you'll find that anyone is interested in posting convenient summaries of all that's been said just to save you the effort.

I was somewhere in the 100's, don't remember exactly how much, today it's only 47. Google killed my major hit pages. :(

This topic put me at ease a little, patience my friend I tell myself, but it's sooooo depressing. :(

Oh well, very nice, everyday losing hundreds of pages until we have nothing and then google will have no relevant serps. 14000 to 400 on tuesday to 239 yesterday today 181, with this speed I cannot make it to next week. Unbelievable :(

I dont know whats going on now but if I do site:www_mydomain_com

It says results 1-2 of 68, was about 320. Even though it says 68 its only showning 2 pages, homepage index and the an attached forum index.

This is a new development isnt it?

It was me who rated this thread when I found it and read it in full. It put my mind at ease that I'm not the only one with problems. I've also read Matts blog and all the comments on it.

I admit though that I'm new to this and stuggling to understand everthing so if I have repeated something obvious then sorry. :)

I have notice that all my pages that I have created in the last couple of months have been dropped from the google's index but the pages that have been around for years still are indexed (and have their own PR). Unfortunately Ive created a lot of pages in the last couple of months=/

Here's my theory: Google gives your site a rank and based on that rank the number of pages you can have indexed is calculated. I'll dub it PageRank;) (Seriously though in my theory it's a new rank)

Now one of two scenarios happens based on this rank.

Either you are assigned a % and that % is applied to the pages in your site and the googlebot selects the pages it finds most important and lists them until your allotted % is used up.

This is the scenario I prefer. Based on your rank you are allotted a certain amount of pages to be indexed and not a single one more. This explains some things to me such as when I add a new page and it gets index, another page is dropped. Googlebot found the new page more important and dropped a lesser page. This theory also works better in explaining why some site are fully indexed as their allotted pages outnumber actual pages.

New sites may start with a minimum allotted number and have no problems getting indexed quickly up to a point.

But then again, what do I know, I've just been screaming Google is broken for months now;)

It all of a sudden started showing up very old pages in the SERP and my hits on old not used since forever, suddenly went up. All in all I have dropped 50-60% of my visitors per day because of this. Have they reverted back to an old backup? Old algo they had to go back to since all the new ones for the last couple of years does not work? Not sure what is going going on with Google but from what I have seen, it is really bad :(
