Okay so I launched a forum called vegaforums.net and as the admin there I would like to know if I should spend time on getting on Google with good PR. Is it worth it?

I am using mybb and already have some good plugins installed (though not yet configured), does anyone have experience with google plugins for mybb?

Thanks any help will be appreciated. My skype: moe-atallah , if you want to chat about my forum (any tips or anything).

Thanks and this forum is looking great :)

Yea, don't get too caught up in acquiring links. Focus on getting real people using your forum and creating content and you will do well. It may take a year or two, so don't rush it. Quality is not something you can always produce overnight.

Also, I would say that if you are going to run a serious forum then use paid software like vBulletin or XenForo they are good from search engine optimization point of view.

I would recommend you to concentrate on getting real people to use your site daily. How can you do that? Well, fake it till you make it. You have probably heard about Reddit, am I right? Do you know how the makers of Reddit made their site one of the most popular community based sites on the web today? By faking it. At first, they spent days registering diff accounts and pretending that they have a popular website.

What else can I say? Make sure your forum is nofollow and definitely use recaptcha and e-mail verification for new members. That can help to keep the spambots away from your forum.

You should promote your forum site first, increase the links of your site and as much as possible include fresh contents in it.

Yes, Google is very beneficial for forums. I'm betting that is where the majority of DP traffic comes from. It seems "question titled threads" will likely be the best bet when trying to get search results on Google for those key term questions.
