Is google analytics works right ? I hav a doubt.....

I started my tech blog www.youmeandgoogle.com just before 7-8 days. According to google analytics it has only got 6 visitors till now. but according to alexa rank it has reached to 74 lack. and alexa is showing it to hav more than 400 visitors per day. so can anyone suggest me that the prob is in google analytics or alexa?

 

If it's installed properly on all pages, then yes, it will give accurate reports.

Alexa is fairly meaningless, pay no attention to it.

 

There are many online free tools for visitor tracking. Google Analytics, according to me, is the most reliable of all.
There are certain differences in numbers for different tracking tools, but they might not always have the same norms for recording visits and traffic trends. Also, one important aspect here is that we all follow Google and most of us are more worried about ranking better on Google, so why not use the tracking provided by Google and rely on the same.

 

I doubt google analytic accuracy. I cant see long tail traffic from this. AWSTAT seem more accurate.

 

I think google analytics is going somewhat wrong

 

If your site is 1 week old you cant really expect it to have 400 visitors a day if you have not recived any extremly good links to your site.

6 visitors sounds more likely for such a new site, i understand that you wish for analytics to be wrong and alexa to be right.. altough analytics gets its information from how many times their analytics-code is loaded on your site. Meanwhile Alexa takes its information from "educated guessing"


Id say that Analytics is reliable for traffic measurements

 

You are right FredrikNas, because it is really hard to get a lot of traffic on a new site at first. Unless you have done a good marketing campaign to with your site link. I think analytics is very accurate.

 

My first question to you is - have you implemented the tracking code across all pages of your site? If not, this probably is the answer to your question. In any case, do let me know.

 

i feel too that google analitics shows less entries

 

It might take Google Analytics some time to get on track. I've experienced a few problems with analytics, but after a while, it sorts itself out.

 

Google Analytics is the best .. i am sure it's right if you put tracking code on all your pages
just check to be sure
