Here are some points. I am wondering what is a general opinion on them, when it comes to SEO. I converted my site to AMP and it was not easy. Now I am wondering if that should have been the way to go:
    • AMP produces a faster web page speed on average.
    • AMP demonstrates to Google that you are prioritizing the user experience and mobile web pages.
    • Due to the restriction in data required on a given page, AMP reduces data consumption and improves server performance.
    • A fast-loading web page is a major ranking factor for SEO. AMP, for this reason, is advantageous.

I'm trying to work out what to use for my next project and I have the luxury of being able to research before kicking off.

AMP looks interesting, and the google advantage is important. Saw some stats recently from a big e-commerce site about how pages being milliseconds faster improved sales. Crazy stuff when I'd have thought the site's reputation would be enough to get past a sluggish site.

My main concern is having a site's resources scattered. The pages at amp, the images at ???, the data at ???
At the moment I have a traditional hosting resellers account that allows me unlimited sites, disk, and bandwidth. Moving my important sites away from that will need a strong argument - if only because I'd have to decide what to do with my hobby sites!

    How have you structured it?

The key benefit of AMP is page speed that comes from radical optimization and is further enhanced through Google cache. So, if your mobile website is slow and you are looking for a way to optimize it, then AMP is a perfectly valid option to consider.

I have never seen (and I have checked hundreds) a website that has AMP installed that loads very fast. The people that use AMP seem to have 2 websites, one for desktop and another with AMP for mobile. How about ditching the AMP and have one responsive page for both makes credible sense plus less work.

Strange. I have one website, responsive and build with AMP. I would say that you see two websites as developers have hard time doing what is necessary with AMP. You cannot have allthe bells and whistles and total control with AMP. You have to sacrifice certain things for that. I have learned it hard way, but were able to put up fully functional site.
