Hi Forum, Is Google Adwords Dead for the Newbie? Since the last few years Google Adwords has exploded sending price per clicks through the roof. Is it now an hinderance for the newbie starting out in popular niches? what does the community think of this?
As with anything else, if you don't understand the system, you're at a disadvantage. Few seem to spend time to learn. They don't understand so they quit out of frustration and high costs. Those who understand the system are reaping the rewards.
You need to read, and learn as much as you can. Do not enter these dangerous tides without a proper knowledge or you will wreck.
Read an article yesterday where an analyst predicted CPC costs to increase between 12-15% year over year ( reported 16% increase in the accounts his company managed), so it certainly won't be getting any easier. My personal opinion is that Google has made some changes in the past 6 months to make it even more difficult for the newer PPC manager to get the lay of the land without a requiring a solid investment while they learn. Google is still where our clients have the majority of budget but we have been actively looking into other options outside of it and beyond Facebook and Bing as well.
Hunt for value. Avoid the mainstream words that the major players know convert. These will be expensive. Try some long tail terms and see what components seem to deliver conversions at lowest cost.
The best place to learn about adwords is from THE master = Perry Marshall who gives away free reports to get you started. When you do start, just make sure you set limits you can afford as CPC and daily caps. When you learn what to do you can actually get targetted traffic at very competitve prices - even cheaper than offered in bulk on many forums.
Because most newbies have to understand adwords first. Adwords is a game, if you dont know the game, you cant play well.
I do not know what ALL OF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT! Awords is a game ???? you have to learn how to play? quit playing a smart-ass please! Yes it takes time to utilize adwords to perfection, but when it is a newbie with 200$ budget in a popular niche against someone with unlimited advertising budget, YOU SIMPLY HAVE NO CHANCE.
I can suggest you to decide your keywords. Then have a look at costs for every keyword. If you have a limited budget then choose the cheapest ones and start promoting. Do not insist on the expensive keywords.
