Hi, I came up with an idea for great online service and I would like to attract clients to my website by using Google AdWords (it's a two-word term). The service is going to be really unique (not many people know how to do it and I haven't found a single website of that content) so I don't need to worry about competition (for the time being). Is Google any good for it? I don't want to spend too much money on advertising (15 clients a month would be enough for now) but I heard a lot about click fraud (esp related to google), does it apply to my situation? Is Yahoo better? I need help and advice from people who advertise their SERVICES the same way and have some experience in this area (pros and cons, mistakes, traps, frauds etc). Please do not post any ads for your paid help documents or www's, I know most of them are great but I need advice, not a product or service... Thank you my friends!
Google adwords is your best option, as it gets you people actually looking for your product/service. It is expensive depending on different factors. It will take time and money to get used to and see what works/what doesnt work. Well worth it though
Well, if it is really unique, it's not going to cost you too much money/time to build links organically either... Personally I'd go that route. But given how unique you say your offer is, do advertise on adwords. From what I hear it takes some time to learn the system, so don't bid too much money at first.
Do a google search for your keyword phrase in quotes (e.g. "Purple Flanges"), see what comes back in terms of Adwords ads. If there are less than 8, you should be able to get the front page of the search results for that exact phrase for about 5c per click. Don't worry too much about getting to number 1, in fact in my experience, the 3rd advert down on the right brings me a higher CTR (don't ask why, I don't know!) Of course, the ultimate Adwords ad position is just above the 1st organic search result, that'll increase your CTR exponentially, since it is the natural place the searcher will look first. Make the advert stand out, don't be afraid to say something controversial in the headline (i.e. Purple Flanges Are A Rip-Off!) - this nearly always works as long as everyone else isn't doing it. Mention exact figures if possible - e.g. Purple Flanges, 12 left in stock, only $32.56... Then test, test, test. Tweak your ad to squeeze every slight increase in CTR to your advantage. Good luck, Steve
