Is google Adsense really that good?

    Hi,
I use google adsense on my website to earn some small cash. However, I don't really see how google calculates my cash. Sometimes I get 0.07ct for 3 clicks on 150 visitors, and sometimes 50 cent. Is google just playing tricks on me? And are there better PPC publisher sites?

It depends on lots of things, advertisers bid on keywords for their ads so the amount you get per click differs, but there are also factors such as smart pricing and whatever else google might feel like doing.

As for better PPC publisher programs, Chitika eMiniMalls is performing better for me than adsense, but it really depends on your site.

Depends on what advertisers are bidding as blinxdk mentioned.

Google doesn't breakdown how much they're paying per click or what clicks are paying how much.

You can use this tool to get a general idea of what advertisers are bidding for certain keywords http://uv.bidtool.overture.com/d/search/tools/bidtool/

Type in your keyword and the security code to get bids.

It is more of enabling your cookies. If you are using Firefox, make sure to remove overture from the "exception" cookies list.

You have a eCPM between 0.5 and 3.0. That's not entirely bad. With a little optimization you can get that above 3.0. Maybe you wanna drop us a URL for help. With Adsense I can get eCPMs above 10. I don't think I've ever gotten higher than 3 with other ad services and most couldn't get me more than 1 eCPM. So yes, AdSense is that good.

Today my CTR is 2.1 overall it reaches about 1.5-2.0 . My website is www.mail-maniac.com and I've optimised it as far as possible. However, if you see some stuff that I forgot to optimise, tell me about it :)

casper, if you don't mind me making a suggestion, or two....

The Adsense ads are too far away. On a large screen resolution they float to the right and outside my sphere of interest. If they're integrated into the main body/content same color is good... otherwise a starkly contrasting color may be better.

Some of your pages, like your "Advertise" page, aren't getting targeted ads. Do you realise you can actually describe the target keywords for Google?

your keyword text here

On your partners page, for example, Google is getting "led astray" :)

Use something like Wordtracker to find related terms that are searched a lot (with high KEI), then check them in Adwords/Overture to see how cheap/expensive they are, they build a few pages of content around the best keywords that are related to existing content on the site.

    Hope that helps :)

Or dump that and use Chitika LOL :)

oh and thanks for the suggestion, I'll add some hideen keywords on my site.

I don't think hidden keywords is what was suggested, nor a good idea.

As for Chitika, I'd try some computer related ads, but generic stuff can get good click percentage too, there are lots of things like clothing and such in their inventory.

Remember, chitika can be set to be contextual as well.

I haven't found anything that chitika didn't find a decent ad for!

Wow indeed you're right! I checked my website on another computer and the ad was litterally floating 1 inch away

I'll use some other adbanner and integrate it with my context as you said.

Another thing; what do you mean with:

your keyword text here

Where do I need to place that?
And more important; Isn't it against the rules to influence an Adsense advertisement?

casper, no problem. Google realised that on some pages the ads just can't be targeted well by the content on the page so they allow webmasters to control what text the contextual engine uses. So, if you place some text on your page between the Google start and end sections then Google will use that text for targetting and largely ignore the rest of the text on the page. Just don't mis-use it with Mesothelioma ;) and you'll earn more money. You can place it anywhere but bear in mind that this text is visible to your visitors. Maybe use it for your

your keyword text here

It is entirely within Google TOS, in fact Google themselves recommend this. PM me when you've put it on your site and I'll have a quick look.

Blatant self-promotion here: Check out Chitika via the links in my sig. One Chitika ad per page won't be overload on your site and can make a big difference, most people report NO drop in Adsense income but with additional money from eMiniMalls. Here it's even more important that you choose your keyword or product carefully (more info on my tips page).

balkanboy, I've addressed that in my site. They are allowed together provided you do it correctly. This page tells you how.

casper, your ad looks much, much better now! I still get PSAs on some pages - like your Partners page, so there's a little optimising you could do there but the integration is now top notch!

I'll post to you how i'm doing in future.

One of the things I don't like about Adsense, Is that you need to get so much to get paid.

Yes, but when you do get paid, you get paid a lot! I know a few people that have gotten as much as $15 a day on their good days.

    Hi Tonystreet. Welcome!

If you poke around here, you'll see that there are alot of people making $100+ per day. Some even make $1000+ per day.

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw your comment. It's understandable, however, as those people all started out shooting for $15 a day just like you (and me!).
