Is google a monopoly ?

Google is getting in to every area From search to advertising to many othere fields. Do you think they are monoploy.

Monopoly is not good

 

It is , the best example is Google Adsense , obviously ...

 

You have some idea to break this monopoly... get going. (except for reporting them to The Justice Dept because even the US administration with them. NASA is sharing their airfields with them )

 

Google is taking over the world. Seriously.

 

Yahoo was the possible biggest competition for me but ... maybe is only the silence before the storm , hmmm , Gmail is not the best mail ( related to Google monopoly )

 

Nothing is for permanent. As they say "The higher they go, The greater their fall is" and google is no exception.

Their market share gives them too much power and we start to see signs from that. In that way I think they're getting close to a monopoly.

Google isn't a monopoly yet. They have a lot of competitions still and it is still too early to tell, wait another 10 years.

 

Google is not a monopoly. Sure, they may be getting bigger and bigger, but they are not a monopoly. Not meaning to offend anyone, but if you think Google is a monopoly you dont really understand what a monopoly is.

 

I agree with you. To be a monopoly, they must have full control of the market place or create a situation where they block competitors from entering the market place. One example was when Microsoft starting packaging Windows and Internet Explorer with all new computers. They created an unfair advantage to wipe out the competition.

Google has done none of this. All their programs and services are free to use or not to use. Though it is hard not to use Adsense, PR , and Google search, there are other options and competitors. Because they became the leader in many Online categories, this does not in any way make them a monopoly. In fact, they should be admired for what they have done to build such a multi-billion dollar company.

I do not always agree with everything they do but Google bashing has gotten way out of hand.

We have a choice in what company we want to use. As long as there is choice, google wont be a monopoly.

 

Google may seem like a monopoly to some, the truth is they are the best information retrieval source on the planet. They deserve to be where they are because they are the best as chosen by the people.

Anyone who thinks google is a monopoly is A) Uneducated, B) Stupid. There is no intelligent argument that google is a monopoly.
