Google is by far the biggest boy in the search engine game. In fact, for some reason i think they don't have any real competitor. The search engine industry is fast becoming a monopolistic industry. Is that a good thing?
In france, usage figures for google are over 95% in usa yahoo still has a significant share in china baidu rules and google is a small player in japan yahoo is strong but yes overall, it looks like the microsoft internet explorer of before firefox
well you can say yahoo as there competitor, but GOOGLE is far away from all search engine's available on the net. I never trusted MSN to find something, yes always tried Google or sometime yahoo.
In middel east zone the only and only used searching engines is GOOGLE In middel east zone IE 86% and FF 12% REST 2% GOOGLE ROCKS IN MIDDEL AND FAR EAST TOO
Whats that ocean creature that just opens its huge mouth and takes in all the plankton i think? Googles one of them, it can now afford to open its big wide mouth and consume companies quietly and easily.
I don't think that Google is a monopolistic company. Maybe you can talk about monopolistic when a company doesn't play under the legal rules to stop any competitor, but Google is a good company. You say something very interesting: for some reason they don't have any real competitor. Well that's true, Google is the best company in internet. Reasons: - FREE tools for webmasters and users, with high quality, like the search engine, google analytics statistics (better than some paid statistics services), google video, translator, tool for photos, docs... - Best contextual ad program Google Adsense, best income for publishers with content sites where there is only information and they don't sell anything. When you are better than the other company, you don't need to make monopolistics strategies.
Of course its NOT a monopoly (just go and look up the definition of a monopoly). Its just the dominant player in its niche. Thats something very different to a monopoly.
Generally it's not good to have one company controlling the market since they have all the rights to dictate the terms. A certain level of competition should be deemed healthy.
How is Google controlling the market? Searchers are free to go and use multiple other search engines. That is healthy competition. Google has only become so popular as they are simply serving up search results that users want.
Nope. Google have many sides and 2 major ones. SE and Ad network. In the SE niche they have many competitors which got some quality scores on US-UK traffic as Yahoo, MSN. On the Ads network you can find many many competitors that some have decent amount of revenues and others less. Google is undoubtedly not a Monopoly.
Well the big G's results are usually right on the mark that's why many people uses the. They day another SE can create better results is the day Google's monopoly(?) would be broken.
