Yes its supposed to be integrated into gmail, google checkout etc so you can do everything online with google if you want.
Google+ is not google's brother. it is a part of google body. google want to improve their presence in social networking. so that way they are improving feature in G+, and we can expect more from the that. we need to be there from at least from now.

Google+ is Google's attempt to create a social network of users that will battle Facebook and win. I have been on G+ for about three months now and I think Google is on to something here. A lot of tech users are starting to have a pretty good presence. The interface is not hard to use, and you can set up circles of friends and do live video or chat hangouts. It also integrates with Google sites and other things. No ads there that I have seen. Some marketing though. I am still figuring it out but it seems pretty powerful. ~Lynn
