http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=467110#post467110 many people noticed that... I just got domain at godaddy right before they went down... i hope this wasn't me frown
Ouch, that's pretty bad when a domain hosting company goes down... Good thing I went with namecheap.com
I checked Godaddy.com and its fine... but all of my sites that are hosted with godaddy are not... AHHH!
I was thinking of going with a 1 year hosting plan for some of my sites... DEFINITELY will be rethinking that.
I just got off the phone with them and they are having server problems. I have to say that I've had them for a year now with no problems. This is not like them at all.
Strange, I can't log into my gmail account now either. Server Error The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request. Please try again in 30 seconds. I tried a few times.
If they're down again, they had better get their act together or I'm pulling the plug on all my accounts with them. This issue raises a bigger question; what is the best way to transfer large (over 50 MEG) sites from one host to another? Does anyone have any best practices for that?
if you're able to just ssh the site backup over to the new hosting account, otherwise just ask the host to do it, whm has a transfer utility and seeing as they use the dc's pipes it gets trasnferred in no time at all, any decent host will glady do it for you. If you get a reseller account you can do it yourself I had to move to a 800mb database to a new server once, was pretty nerve wracking but it go there in the end hehe
