the only 3 free email providers i would trust and consider is yahoo, hotmail and google

Is google good? i never try it
for yahoo, i always think that its interface is poor
for hotmail, so far so far so good, just dont know why my inbox dont upgrade to 250MB

Gmail is good .. better then Yahoo & Hotmail IMO. Ofcourse Gmail is till by invitation only.

    Gmail Advantages Over the Rest.

    SPACE duh!
Listing of messages in a threaded view if its a back and forth conversation (BIG Plus)
Loading time. (Depending on your conection speed, this could be big factor)
    Top Grade Spam Filters

thats all i can think off for now.

They're just the first company to be public about it. If you think hotmail or Yahoo mail has never been compromised, then you are mistaken.

Ofcourse that doesn't worry me. They told it in advance, and it's just to make content-related ads, they don't bother me at all. It's something in return for the 1GB service, it's a good deal for our side I think :)

Gmail is superb... it is the first and only webmail service to move me from using local email clients.

All payoutwindows points are valid plus I like gmails system of "labelling" emails instead of putting them in folders. It means you can have cross indexing and have one email in the equivalent of more than one folder. The folk at google thought this through from the bottom up.

Plus a whole range of hotkey shortcuts. You won't even notice you're using a web based interface.

Yes, google analyse content for keywords. They don't claim to do anything else, and if they wanted to view content for nefarious purposes I guess they could.... but so could anyone you send emails through. Hell the governemnts of the western world have been doing it for years:)

Gmail takes a bit longer to download after you login... but after it's loaded... it's super fast.

Gmail is good, only problem I found is, when there are lot of emails in one 'thread', it take longtime to load and take longtime to come reply box.

I have all three and only really use Gmail. Yahoo is full of spam and Hotmail is full of ads and msn crap. :)

gmail is smooth... Only problem I have is going in with my firewall on, it disables a couple of links including the invite. I have to close my browser, turn off the firewall, and then go back in for it to work.

Speed and no worry about space!!!

I have some invites for those with at least 25 posts.

Actually I think Google is teh best out of the 3 providers mentioned ... IMHO it's so good, that I now forward company email to it to get from the road when I'm traveling .. The interface is just better than our own :D

BTW .. I also have some invites left .. they're regenarating themselfes .. so if anyone needs one .. let me know

    Greetings from Bangkok

Also, the recent announcement that Gmail will provide free POP access without advertisements is very attractive (to me anyways).

I would say Google is harmless compared to some of the other "organizations" that read emails et al. ;)

The others scan your emails for spam and virus. I don't see the big difference.

This is pretty awesome - reading these posts 6 years later, it's amazing to see how Gmail has grown to allow public accounts that almost anyone can freely create. In terms of the ads that show up in the homepage of Gmail, Google even released a video explaining how the entire advertising process works. I guess being completely transparent and visible actually works...in Google's case, at least.

Gmail is good more so for personal use. If youre doing some type of marketing, id recommend hotmails. If you dont feel like creating them yourself, they go for pretty cheap as well. Something like 6$/1000.

I agree. I remember back when Gmail was still invitation-only and one of my friends happened to have an account. Gmail was pretty cool back then, but I still used Yahoo mail. Now, Gmail is the main email provider that i use.
