Do any one here have any experience with GAF(getafreelancer.com)?

Actually i have little concern about GAF. that what if i do complete some one project i did bid on.. and he do accepts my bid but after completing his project he/she don't pay for what i have bid..do this happen over there..and if yes than how to be sure that which person is trustworthy and which one is fraud??

Please share with me your experience.and explain me some.. Im kind a newbie there..

also if some one do an escrow for me..how would i gonna know that how much of escrow he has done for me?

    Need Guidance.

I advise you use third party service such as escrow to minimize the risk of unpaid.
The buyer deposit the money at escrow then you deliver the project, escrow release the fund to you.
You can trace the money amount by using the tracking code given by client.

In GAF you will see the amount escrowed to you. You will know that the buyer paid GAF and put the money in escrow when you see this. If you do a good job your money is safe. If there is a dispute and you can proof that the work has been done GAF will release the escrow to you. I would say it's safe as long as you do a good job and stick to the truth.

I think escrow is best option. I advise you instead of bidding projects on GAF try in our DP. This has good amount of traffic and business.

i am simply in love with GAF. what GAF has done for me, is get me back into business. THe best thing about them is the low transaction fees, and if you become a gold member, "no" transaction fees. Its a heaven there :). apart from that, the support staff is good. Also, GAF has its own escrow. So you should ask for an escrow payment. So it should cover the risks..

I've used it for some medium sized projects - as always, it's only as good as the talent you can find. I've found some gems on there but on the flip side have had some terrible experiences.

I use the escrow service when doing anything on GAF. I have had no problems at all using that method at all.

Yes i got paid in gaf through escrow when i submited my report..i guess its pretty much safe with escrow thing..
But i didnt got the review cuz i didnt knew that it only works if i getpaid for what have i bid not for make deal in PM's or else..
this was my first try..every one learns from thier mistakes.. i will try to be more careful next time...

Thank you mates for your responses and sharing with me your experiences with GAF..
i guess its pretty much safer with dealings with persons with reviews and also with escrow..
    Thanks again to all...

At least you can always call PayPal raising your voice and yell at them. You can't imagine how frustrating it is when they hold your 3.000 dollars and you can't do anything about it.

In addition i am not sure what boundaries you are talking about. I have done nothing. Simply nothing. Suddenly they wanted me to identify the account which i did. However i haven't hear anything since then. Nothing! You got that?

My account is 2 years old and it was also several times suspended in the past. The point is that earlier it was taking 2-3 days to be identified but now it has gone too far. They hold my money two weeks already.

if u have a strong portfolio then u will find work soon but in start u need to bid lower so that ppl can leave review and do not escrow the payments otherwise buyer can run.

I've been using GAF for a few months now - originally I tried it because compared to some other bidding sites, the fees were reasonable. A gold membership for 12$ / month and NO commission fees. I actually had some very good experiences there.

Well, guess what?!? They've raised the fee to 20$ per month - yes, TWENTY, That's a 66% increase for membership!!! And the 'no commission fee' perk is a thing of the past; basic members pay 10% (the same as before) but gold members now pay 3%.

I'm really really annoyed about this for a couple of reasons. First, that is just a ridiculous increase. Absolutely nuts. Second, if you have repeat customers on GAF who you got before the increases, you end up paying a commission on those now too. And third, let's face it, GAF does NOT have the best reputation for quality, percentage of listings awarded, or fair and reasonable pay. I think it's in-frigging-sane that they're charging as much (or more) than some of the more reputable bidding sites, with absolutely no increase in service, quality or user support. And finally, where is the loyalty to their users. Without providers, their service would be useless. And for providers who've been there a while, this is a huge slap in the face. And because they don't have a forum, or any way to interact with other providers, there's not even any way to respond to GAF about this, or put pressure on them to see sense.

Personally, I'm about ready to give up on them.

    ok, rant's over. :p
