nope man, if you are thinking something serious I would suggest paid hosting. You won't pay a lot, there are plenty of no price packages that hosting companies offer. Beside you will maximum pay 100$ per year, which is 8-9$ per month. That's not that much, go one time lesser to mcdonalds and there you are, you'll have enough money in your pocket to pay it=)
Free hosting, might be good, it depends upon your site requirements.. I have seen many free hosting sites turning into paid hosting or close certain required features as Paid option.. I recommend you to go for Paid hosting if you have a good online carrier in mind..
No, free hosting is not good. And just as Qryztufre said, you get what you pay for. Those free hoting companies make money by posting ads on your site. And then charging you for a copy of the database. In the long run, you would probably be better off by getting an account on a cheap shared server. Most of the times you can find shared hosting accounts for less then $15 a month.
Generally, NO. However, depends on your purpose, it can be usefull, even a good money earner. Many people earn a lot of money from blogger blogs.
It depends. If you;re running an actual business, I'd stay away from it. I host over a hundred wordpress multiuser installs for clients. For most of those, the admins go out of their way to do the best that they can. And, to be honest, some suck and are over their heads.
Very true If you are just starting out and want to test things out there is no harm in trying out some free hosting options. Once you are serious about your site(s) move on to a paid hosting solution.
You definitely get what you pay for with web hosting. Think about the loss of income when you have downtime. Is it really worth saving a few dollars?
I say a big FAT NOO for free hosting the first thing they disaper without notice and you lost everything downtime : you can't say a word
100% agree that you should always use paid hosting, hostgator gives you the first month for a penny and it's only a few bucks a month thereafter for the cheapest package.
HostGator offers an amazing hosting package for probably the cheapest prices out there, definitely check them out as it'll be worth it in the end.
It mainly depends on what you are planning to host. If you are planning to host a tiny personal blog then it should be fine, but once you are hosting a site that required reliability and uptime then I recommend you move to a paid host. There are several paid hosts that only cost around $2-5/month.
I didn't see that you were asking about using free hosting for a business.... For a business do not use free hosting.
Hi Tauren, If you're in this for the long term and want to make a business out of this, then you ultimately need paid hosting. Free hosting leaves you at the mercy of the hosting provider. See Squidoo recent changes for what can happen when you build your business around a free service. If you want to build the strength of your website and rise up the search engine rankings it has to be on your terms and the only way you can do that is with paid hosting. You got to invest money to make money. Cheers, Sam
Same thing can happen with paid hosting. I have clients who could tell you some stories. Paid companies and servers can disappear as well.
hmmm... paid hosting can give you service guaranteed... and you will always have people back you up when servers are down... that's my own experienced
