    backlinks will only be as good as the blog, so the blog needs to have good content. Blogspot.com is by google and is free

    If you create your own blog, make sure to build some backlinks to that blog too, and make sure that you that build some good content on that blog, so that your links are actually worth more.

    Blogs can be created on blogspot, wordpress for free. Commenting blogs(do follow) will help in developing back links.

    try to get backlinks on blogs that are pertinent to your niche... also the higher the pr the better

    If you doing your own blog, the good and cheap variant is Wordpress system (for free) + .info domain (cheap) + some lowcost hosting. Some hostings give you one domain for free. It is better than free systems like blogger.

    creating blogs for backlinks are not an efficient way to build back links in my opinion. the blogs you create, you still need to market them in order for SEs to index your site and then follow the external links. too much work. just find the do follow blogs (there are several threads on DP with do follow blog lists) and make useful comments on them with your anchot text url
