I advertise online and offline. This works for me. I use social networking sites to build up my contacts for email marketing. I do use business cards and flyers to promote my business. I think you have to be as creative as possible when it comes to advertising. Think of ways you can advertise/promote that you haven't seen done yet or bite some ideas by researching. But free advertising has worked especially well for me. Why spend money that you might not even have to advertise (like I did in the beginning) when traffic or a sale isn't guaranteed? All I can say is creativity is crucial when you are advertising for free.

Sure, both online and offline advertising is important. Basically my offline advertising more focus on local market but online is more to international market

When you are doing free advertising, it could be profitable - but will take some time as you said.
    EZ-
But as long as you have good keywords, (not a lot of comp.) ,a target audience, explain the benefits for the person. Wait the 7-14 days to get live. Then start to create some back links.

You should be able to convert some good sales

Sure I just stick my URL on everything.

For example I have lots of guitar students and I put my URL on all the chord charts that I give them.

If you have a business and think about every interface you have with the public - you will find tons and tons of place to stick your domain name.

Free is the way to go if you aren't selling anything. It will build over time. YouTube, etc all those sites are prime for getting hits.

Everything depends on niche. For some niche offline marketing works wonder and for some it fails miserably. Yep biz cards works great for home business niche but still your offline marketing skills matters a lot.

Anyone ever thought about plain white business cards that have nothing on them but the domain name in the center ?

Depends what you're trying to sell & who your target market is. Example: if you're selling kids' diapers, you may not want to be handing those out at an old folks' home because 1) it wouldn't be suitable to them 2) their families may not visit much 3) they most likely aren't savvy with the internet 4) they can't travel to your store easily 5) they are most likely unable to do much by themselves

If you're handing those out to daycares, nursery schools, kindergarten, arts & crafts shops etc....you will get more bang for your buck. Also - it's not 'free' since you're paying for the business cards, but I do agree it's almost free & does more than one job :)

Sure it is but you need to exert more effort see the result. I haven't tried offline marketing yet but if I do maybe I start with the word of mouth. Having a business card would generate another expenses.
