    It still bring the weight but very low compare to previous .
    Short content usually is hard to bring weight to SEO because google will take it as poor quality or spam . Unless your post able to generate lot of interaction and lot of people bring in lot of quality and unique content.
    make sure the forum is related to your website topic .

    At my end it is effective for seo because, it is a platform in which many visitors are traveling, and this platform we can promote our website, facebook page and twitter page etc.
