why not? Take a look at this active DP forums? I'm sure there's always people who would be very interested in your site. In fact, I have click a few member's signature and ads here :)

Be sure to find a forum that is very much related to your site and very active.

It all depends on the forum. I have seen with adsense and ypn. Some forums seem more interested in the ads then others. All forum members are not created equal and different forums have different 'crowds'

I think Forums are a very good means of advertising. What you really need to do is prepare a good profile with your desired seo links and start posting. I have reaped good fruits from it.

I guess it depends on the nature of your site & of the forum, but I've found it to get good results. I have a jewellery design business & include a link to my jewellery blog & eBay store (I haven't finished my own site yet!) on my posts in some of the forums I visit. I've made several extra sales so far as a result! In any case, it can't do any harm.

Most of my traffic comes from forum users in my specific field.

I get between 10 and 20 visitors per day with forums. The main point is to have regular post on big forums.

Forums can be effective but I find them very high maintenance and time consuming. Just depends upon who you're targeting. Webmasters are especially prolific at seeking out my links on forums like this one. But cash paying consumers are a little more fickle.

I have found forums to be great tools for driving traffic. But generally this is low quality traffic, with a very small conversion rate

Forums are very useful when you're offering a product / service that is targetted to the same people as the forum.

Just make sure you're on target with the topic of the forum and you should do well.

Forums are usually highly targeted traffic so they can be good. However, be aware that if you a paying per impression it might not work well. Forums have high numbers of impressions and low numbers of unique users as its usually the same group of users browsing around which reloads the banner.

There is no blanket rule. It entirely depends on the nature/purpose of the website, the forum topic, and the effectiveness of your ads.

Typically though, forum users are more actively engaged, more likely to scrutinize info rather than gloss over a page quickly
