hi, i seen a thread like this but cant find it to read.

    wondering if anyone can help.

i have a front page, wallpaper site, fonts, free arcade etc on the one domain.
how i have it set out is: gallery.domain.com, wallpaper.domain.com, freearcade.domain.com and so on.

my question is should i have my folders set to domain.com/wallpaper, domain.com/freearcade???

i read somewhere that google treats folder.domain.com as a separate domain to your home page domain.

when i look at my indexed pages on google, it only shows results from domain.com/eg, to find results for other folders i need to type in eg: wallpaper.domain.com

so basically .domain.com is the wrong way to go when you have up to 6 folders on the 1 domain????

if i was to change .domain.com >> to domain.com/folder, i would get indexed better right?

    thx

Google treats each of your subdomains as a different site, so if you want your forums to index seperate than your site then you should stick to using subdomains. I prefer to use them, as it provides more content to be indexed by Google and counted as "separate" sites.

    thanks.

so if i want google to index everything under the 1 domain i would use no subdomains? just folders domain.com/folder?
i kinda want my front page and forum to rank together if that makes sense.

i actually thought my site mite rank better having more content under just the 1 domain and no subdomains, just folders.

well in case of alexa ranking the sum of the total visitors to your sub domains is also take, well there is no difference in case of alexa ranking...

in case of google as johnnytaft11 said google treats each sub domain differently and also is the case of ads value, since some ad site give you better commission if you got better traffic better u build everything under one domain

Depends what you need. If you need to have SEO efforts you have made for the web site I would recommend you having site.com/forum. In the case of forum.site.com you will have 2 diffrent web sites for the SEO work.
Have a look at URL of this forum. I like that the best.
